Question about Whirlpool Ovens
First, be sure that you are using the correct lamps, they must be aplliance bulbs, rated for use in ovens. Secodly, some oven light fixtures are equipped with a lens, and if this is missing the lamp can be exposed to very hot conditions, such as during auto-clean cycles, If you are not sure if there should be a lens, take the nameplate info to the manufacturers website, and look up a parts diagram. The nameplate can usually be found on the frame of the drawer below the oven door. Replacement lenses are relatively inexpensive, and the parts department at any appliance showroom can help you.
Also, opening and closing the oven door roughly, can break the element, especially when hot or cooling down. I hope that this is helpful, Rob
