Question about HP Pavilion ze2000 Notebook

1 Answer

HP ZE2000 makes whining noise on startup, like stuck key noise. Able to supress it for a bit by htting F12 key. Installed new keyboard. Booted up 3 or 4 times OK, then same problem. Removed Keyboard and tried to use USB keyboard. Same problem. Anyone got an idea? Hard drive working, RAM seemingly OK.

Dust on the CPU Fan, or rear casing Fan. Or Hard-Drive wear to fluid bearings.

F3, 3 and E key not working

Because laptop keyboards are small and sealed, it's easier to just get a replacement keyboard instead of trying to fix it.

I have Compaq Presario CQ42 118TU. The F1 to F12 keys are no longer the upper layer (used to be default). The HP quick launch buttons are now the default upper layer. Now i have to press the 'fn' key first...

I just had exactly the same issue. I found the answer on the HP website, but to save you looking for it, here's what you do:

1) Go to the BIOS for your machine. You'll do this by interrupting the startup sequence. On my Presario CQ42, I had to press ESC while the machine was starting.

2) Once in the BIOS, use the right/left arrow keys to move to the System Configuration tab.

3) Use the up/down arrow keys to move to the Action Key setting (Enable/Disable) and change it from the current setting.

4) Save and exit the BIOS.

Once your laptop finishes the boot-up, the F1-F12 keys should function the way you were used to.

HP Pavilion ze2308wm laptop won't boot up

It could be the memory modules (RAM). Get the information from those RAM sticks (manufacturer) and replace them with new ones to see if that solves the issue, if not then maybe the hard drive, and if it's neither of those, I hate to say it, but it sounds like a bad motherboard :(

Hi my hp laptop is unable to startup the Start up self repair is not fixing automatically in the system. It is not opening in the safe mode also. What should i do pls help...

One thing to mention first is if you get it booted. you can always go to system restore which will take it back a few day. If you can't boot at all you can try booting into the bios using the F2 or F12 key. From within the bios you can detect if there is a hardware problem.
