How do we start new chainsaw first time?

Install wire on spark plug. Turn switch to "on".Prime the gas with a 2-3 pumps, close the choke and give cord a pull. Don't pump the primer again or you can flood it out. Open the choke and pull cord until it starts.

The saw has good compression! ive done everything i related to running and still cant get it to start im stumoed any suggestions?

For all small engines, check for spark (pull the plug, ground the plug's metal body to metal engine block, pull cord and look for spark in the gap). If you have spark, prime the head with about 1 teaspoon of gasoline or a squirt of starter fluid through plug hole, replace plug and try again. If it runs for a few seconds and quits after several attempts at priming, your carburetor needs cleaning. Probably gummed up with old gas (not drained)... a sticky situation. Remove, dismantle and clean with carburetor cleaner or replace. Next time, empty gas and run it dry.

I have just purchase a Sears 22 Lawm mower, with a Briggs and Stratton 158cc engine. I prime the motor it act like it wants to start but then dies. I pull it and try to strat it several more times and it...

The procedure for starting an engine is as follows:
  • Check that you have the throttle in the start position and/or on high revs with choke on
  • Prime the engine by pushing the button about 5 times
  • Pull out the cord until you meet resistance. Then let the cord go fully back into the engine and then pull the cord out sharply. Repeat this until the engine starts but not more than a few times.
  • If the engine doesn't start, try pressing the primer button another few times then try to pull start the engine
  • If the engine doesn't start after a few pulls it may have flooded so leave it for a few minutes before pulling the starter rope

Don't prime it 6 times.

Prime it once and try starting. Keep trying with one prime.

If that doesn't work, let it sit for a bit. And then prime it two times and try starting again.

If that doesn't work, try priming 3 times.

Then try half-choke with one pull only, and then move choke to run for the second pull.

The saw might have an on-off button

It won't start.

Prime away... on a chainsaw it does NOT squirt fuel into carb. It draws fuel from tank, through carb, and returns it to tank.
Using the choke however will flood it in a second once it has fired. with a good fuel supply, 99.5 % of chainsaw won't start problems are flooded. Lou
