Question about Ubi Soft Petz: Dogz 5 and Catz 5 Compilation (008888682295) for PC

1 Answer

Basically, I tried dowloading Dogs 5 onto my old Windows Vista (for my daughter) but as soon as I put the disk in the drive, the computer just wiped out and crashed. I honestly couldn't say if it was the disk or the computer, but I know for certain that the computer was working absolutley fine before we tried the disk and it is a relitavely new machine. If anyone knows why this could be, it would be great if I could get a little help!

If there are no signs of life when you power it on, then the best way would be to reinstall Windows. And to save any data on the machine you must follow the link below.

Crashed Windows

While, if there are some signs of life, eg, some HDD activity or Windows activity, then you must contact me immediately.

It's time to purchase a replacement disk-drive, and then to install Windows Vista onto it, and then connect the "old" drive as a 'SLAVE' disk-drive, to see if you can copy any files onto the "new" disk-drive.

How can get rid from Thinkpoint

A "Thinkpoint" is a computer-virus. On a virus-free computer, Google-search for 'remove thinkpoint'
to get some good advice.

Or, follow best practises, which state that you can never remove 100% of a computer virus.

So, disconnect the old disk-drive, and purchase a new disk-drive.
Install Windows onto the new disk-drive.
Install anti-virus software on the new disk-drive.
Connect the old disk-drive as a "slave" device.
Copy all your data files from "old" to "new".
Use the anti-virus software to scan the "old" disk-drive.
Completely "wipe" the old disk-drive, and then use it as a "backup" drive,
e.g., once a day/week/fortnight, copy everything from your 'My Documents' folder to that "old" drive.

Attempted system recovery on HP a1540n. Only option allowed was to format hard drive. Computer now stops at splash screen. Boy, I need help. Thank You, Gordon

By formatting your hard drive, you've wiped all the data.

You now need to re-install an operating system.

If you have a Windows installation disk, just put it in your CD/DVD drive and re-boot, follow instructions.

If you don't have an windows installation disk, its a case of buying one, make sure you also get the COA Code of authority, 5 groups of 5 letters and numbers.

If you don't want to pay for a system disk, Download and burn a copy of one of the Free Linux operating systems. Ubuntu is my favourite. Just log onto :- http://www.ubuntu.com/ and follow your nose.

Again, when you have a disk, put it in the drive and reboot.

Windows Failed to load because Kernel file is missing

try pressing f8 when you load vista and then select start normally
if that doest not work and gives you the same error then restart and press F12 as soon as you see the dell logo, put in the vista installation disk that you got with the laptop and select boot with disk option.

try and repair or the recovery option .

NOTE : IT IS RECOMMENDED TO TAKE BACK UP OF YOUR FILES BEFORE USING THE RECOVERY OPTION .

Can't get file to open off old hard drive

Vista runs NTFS...if your old XP-based machine was not, try converting to it (you'll probably need to put back in the old machine to do it)...I don't think that's the problem though as my older XP-based computer was running NTFS & my Vista-based machine keeps dinging & asking to try USB 2.0...It is USB 2.0,I then tried the setup disk and it says I have to remove the current 2.0 driver already in the Vista (I don't think so!)...I'm thinking that a Vista driver (from whatever sourse) will be needed,,,lacking that I'll return mine to Best Buy and try another brand that supports Vista.

Unfortunately if there is no driver for Vista, then your out of luck. Since Vista is a widely used OS and getting bigger, then the MyBook manufactures must create a Vista driver soon or they will be in danger of going out of business. Just wait and periodically check the MyBook website for new drivers.
