Question about Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

2 Answers

My camera switches off immediately after swithching on, it just shows a low battery sign and goes off. On the contrary if I select the discharging option from the camera settings menu the same batteries take about 30 mins to discharge. I am puzzled whether it is the battery or somethimg else which is causing the problem. Please suggest..

These cameras use both SD and XD cards. The SD cards are the cause of the draining. Switch to an XD card or remove your SD card while not in use and your batteries will not drain. :)

...further... I've tested multiple SD cards and found the Mini-SD cards in their adapters don't have any effect on the battery.

Sometimes, a battery will develop a high internal resistance. This will cause the battery to test good until it's under a heavy load at which time, it won't be able to supply enough power to the camera and the camera will shut down showing a 'low battery' sign. When your camera just turns on, it draws more power if it needs to open shutters or move gears.
If you think some kid might have drooled in your camera or on your battery or touched the contacts your first course of action should be to clean your battery contacts on your battery and in your camera or obtain a new battery, make sure it's charged, and try it in your camera. If it works, take the old battery in for recycling.
If that does not solve your problem, the camera has a problem.
If the camera has a problem, it just might be that the battery contacts have a bit of dirt on them. If it's not that, the camera needs to be taken in for service.
I think that's the long and short of it all.

BMW 2005 LT got a parasitic draw of 1.02 ma with everything off pulled all fuses but still showing up anywhere else I may look possibly a relay sticking any ideas ?

1.02 ma is extremely low and may be the current used by the ecm to maintain the CPU memory and to run the clock setting
a current draw that low will not discharge a fully operational battery
consider this --a good 500 cranking amp battery with a discharge of 1ma will last over a year or years before it shows signs of needing a recharge
however if the battery has an problem cell then internal discharge will flatten a battery in hours
have a load test done on the battery

Kodak EasyShare CX7330 when swithched on, light glows for fraction of a second and turn off and then looks like as good as switched off, can anyone please help

buy a better Battery usually if there is a sign of life at all then the batteries are usually to blame unless the lens is jammed up and you are just not aware of it. the camera automatically can turn itself off if it senses there is a problem, for instance if the LCD screens ribbon is not making good connection then the camera may not power up instead it just gives a little sign of life then turns off without really doing anything.

Low Batterie Sign

I had the same prolem. OK, try this. Try to discharge the AA batteries in some use, flashlight or else,,,,then recharge them, full charge, install the batteriers ...they should work fine....
I read somewhere that canon is able free of charge to correct a shortcircuit that the camera is susceptible to develop in the installation of batteries......But I hope the advise will work...
Remove batteries when not in use.

Lzoom lens goes out and in, immediately, then camera turns off

Pull the battery and plug the charger into the camera. It should turn on and take pics now. If it does, you need a new battery!

Yeah, I know, the battery shows fully charged but it's weak and old so it really doesn't have the current to drive the lens.

Try to clean the battery terminals with an abrasve pencil eraser, (old red eraser #2 pencil from grade school) and wiggle the battery in the camera (gently) to clean the terminals inside the camera.

Let the camera charge the battery completly, (not in the dock!) and see if it turns on.

If it does, you will probably find that it discharges VERY quickly.

Buy a new battery! That extra battery that you have had since you bought the camera is probably also shot! They do have a shelf life!

If the camera does not turn on with just the charger, (no battery) then it's probably a lens error, but you should see an error code if it is.

Good luck!

Battery Low with NiMH (won't turn on) OK with Alkaline

Not the camera obviously - works OK Replace the NiMah batteries- get several sets and keep one set in the bag charged with one set in the camera. You may be able to 'refresh' the original batteries by putting them into a small flashlight and running them until the bulb goes out. This discharges them completely- then recharge. It is said batteries have a 'memory' so that a battery that is down say 50% and recharged will only recharge that 50% and the other 50% is lost for use. So you have to flatten the batteries completely

Low battery indication

You have either a faulty charger, a faulty battery or a fault in your camera. I purchased 2 batteries for my Sony 505v and from new one of them kept flashing an empty battery sign right in the middle of the display. Actually it was fully charged but Sony batteries have a little circuit inside them which tell you how long the batteries will last. In my case I could continue to use the battery but put up with that flashing icon. I returned it to where I purchased it and it was replaced Immediately. Please ,next time give us a little more information as to what battery type it is and which camera it goes in. Some cameras can develop a natural short circuit over time. BMW
