Open the chamber and drop the staples upright in to the chamber do not try to load the staples by placing them on the strip that pulls out as you do with most staple guns.

The staples do not go on the bar you pull back but directly into the bottom once you have pulled the bar back. I was trying to put the staples on the bar at the back and push them into the stapler.

at the back end of the handle, there is a retainer spring loaded clip. Push it in, then push it downward toward the base of the stapler, the clip should then release the spring, pull the rod with the spring completely out, slide a row of staple in where the rod came out, ONLY ONE ROW, then insert the rod with the spring back in and push it firmly in, and lift it upward to engage the lock. and fire away...
