Why do you think that you have to take it apart? If, you mess it up, you will probably void your warranty. Before, you do that describe your problem first and lets see if we can't help you without doing that.

My Janome 7025 is making a grinding noise but sews perfectly. Why

That's not a good thing to hear. I'd get some oil to it asap. If that sound is due to a gear grinding, it will soon wear out or seize up if you continue using it.

Best to take the outer machine shell off. There should be a few screws to undo to get the top and bottom off. Then, just a drop of sewing machine oil at every spot where metal touches metal should help.

How to put oil

MOVING PARTS THAT ARE METAL AGAINST METAL. THE OUTER SHELL OF THE MACHINE INCLUDES: NEEDLE ARM, PRESSURE FOOT ARM AND THE RACE (UNDER THE BOBBIN ASSEMBLY - ONE DROP ONLY) IF YOU WANT TO TAKE APART THE MACHINE YOU WILL SEE MANY PARTS THAT MOVE. OIL PARTS THAT ARE METAL AGAINST METAL. ALSO TURNING WHEELS AND GEARS NEED OIL WHERE THE ROTATION IS DONE.

How do i remove cover

Lots of screws, then lots of clips to break off when removing the shells, then lots of fine cables to damage. Then a very big repair bill.

Save yourself a headache and a lot of money. Get it looked at by a trained Brother or Babylock tech. Brother makes Babylock machines so getting it serviced by a Brother shop because Babylock shops pay roughly 30% more for parts than Brother shops.

Nelco sewing machine 234F - stitch length knob wont turn

My Nelco Sierra 234F stitch length dial was stuck. Turns out it's pretty easy to repair if you are handy with tools.

Remove top of the machine. Remove set screw holding stitch length mechanism to body about half-way down inside. I loosened the screw and used a magnet to retrieve the screw and washer. Gently pull mechanism out the front, jiggle a bit to disengage rear cylinder from lever and pin inside body. When out remove two screws holding rear cylinder to mechanism and remove, note that the opening in the cylinder should be up when the dial is set to "button hole."

Remove the small snap ring holding the reverse button push rod and spring and pull it out. Remove snap ring holding outer cylinder onto inner cylinder...this probably requires a snap-ring removal tool.

Work the outer cylinder free from the inner cylinder by using lubricant (maybe let it sit over night), twisting with a wrench, whatever it takes. The problem is that the oil/grease between the two cylinders has dried out and become sticky.

Once the outer cylinder is off clean everything and verify the cylinders turn freely when assembled. Lightly file the cylinders smooth if you gouged them when taking them apart. Lubricate with oil or light grease, reassemble and reinstall the snap ring. Reinstall reverse button push rod, spring and small snap ring. Reinstall rear cylinder with the two screws, note orientation of opening in rear cylinder.

Installation is a bit tricky, you have to turn and wiggle the mechanism to get the pin on the lever to enter the side opening of the rear cylinder. Lifting the lever and pin mechanism from the top can help by moving the pin rearwards. It took me a few tries.

Once it's in orient the set screw hole in the outer cylinder under the set screw opening in the body and reinstall the set screw and washer (I used a magnet to lower the pair into the screw hole).

Reinstall cover and you are good to go. If you drop the set screw or washer remove the bottom and retrieve them, or fish them out with a magnet if you can see them.

Can I use compressed air to clean out my Bernina? The needle is getting stuck when I try to use the decorative switches and I thought maybe everything was just too dirty. It is okay to use and can I use...

Yes, you can use compressed air. However, bear in mind that the debris must go somewhere and, without the outer shells removed, it may go where it will interfere with the mechanical parts.

What do you mean by "getting stuck"?

Use only sewing machine oil, not 3 in 1 oil.
