Hi, the aftermarket head unit should have a red wire for memory. This wire needs to connect to your factory hot lead wire. If you're not sure which one that is, tell me your car model and year so I can look it up for you. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi, sorry, I told you wrong. It's the yellow wire that is your memory wire. This one must connect to a hot lead in the car.

My radio/ 6 disc CD player.

Both. Check the power line that is supposed to power the clock and memory circuits when you turn off the ignition.

And your player has lost the ability of the laser to focus on the disc - hence the error message.

What am i doin wrong with my boss radio? when i set a station when i shut the engine off i loss my settings

Sounds like your Memory +12V wire is not connected properly. If this wire does not have a constant source of power then you will lose all of your settings on your radio.

Things that may cause you to lose power through the Memory 12V wire:
  • Not hooked up properly to the battery
  • Bad battery
  • Bad ground
  • Loose wires

I have bought a JVC-R322 CD Receiver for my daughters Renault Clio and it connected to the existing cabling with no problems. However everytime I turn off the ignition and turn it back on again, the unit...

The vehicle has a constant power source that needs to be connected to the radio. If a fuse has disconected the circuit then you will lose your "memory" for your radio. Look in the owners manual for the fuse box locations. Use a light to find the fuse that has disconnected the circuit.

Hi i have sony MEX-BT2500 cd palyer each time i tuyrn my car off it loses the memory

the constant power retains the radios memory. you should pull the radio out and check the yellow wire off the back of the radio with a digital multimeter. make sure the key is off. if the wire dose not have 12V+ check you fuses on the vehicle.

Sendai CD789 radio preset stations

At the back you should have a red, black and yellow (maybe blue). swap the red and yellow over. Yellow = memory [constant voltage] red = live with ignition. Hope this helps. Wayne. Tech Rehab. http://techrehab.t35.com

Memory of presets

You need to Check the Wiring Harness from the Stereo. There is a Constant Power Memory Wire (Should be Yellow or Orange). This needs to be Connected to the Cigarette Lighter Power Wire for Constant Power Memory. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

I have to reset my channels on my sendai car stereo every time i turn engine off

I would suspect that the radio is not installed correctly. There should be 12V present on one wire for retaining memory. There is a capacitor inside the radio that will retain memory for a short time (less than 5 minutes), but you should not have to reset the system after each start. If the wiring is correct, then the internal memory system may be defective and require replacement.
