Dometic roof air compressor comes on but fan will not replaced both capacitors and thermostat

Sounde as if there is an open winding in the fan motor. There are two sets of windings in a fan motor. The start winding and the run winding.

Here is how you can tell if it is the start winding. Put the unit on and then take a stick and try turning the fan swiftly. If it does start and it could be in either direction, since you have already replaced the capacitors then if the start winding is open then you will need to replace the fan motor. Same goes if the run winding is open.

Motor humms but wont engage

The start capacitor or start winding has gone bad. Or bearings are dry.
Don't run motor if it does not rotate full speed or motor will overheat and go bad.
Replace or repair motor.

Each motor has 2 winding circuits.
Start winding and run winding.
Both windings receive power same time.
Start winding has capacitor that releases sudden burst of electricity that starts motor rotation. Kind of like low speed on transmission.
Run winding then brings motor up to speed.

Can i test run the fan motor by bypassing the capacitor

Maybe: If you can manually rotate the motor to get it started.
The capacitor is on start winding, and causes sudden release of amps that starts the motor.
There are two (or four) windings in each single phase motor.
Both receive power at same time.
One winding is the start winding, which can be considered 'low gear' on a transmission. The capacitor is on this winding and gives burst of enough power to begin rotation.
So when a motor just hums, and doesn't rotate, then the start winding and/or capacitor are suspect. Dry or worn bearings are suspect too.
The other winding is the run winding that brings motor to up to speed.
On fan motor, the run winding can have multiple connection points for selecting different speeds.

Amana front load washer hums only

A centrifugal switch to allow the motor to start up on the start winding and once started it opens to take it out of the start winding. The motor has to have voltage applied to the start winding and the run winding at the same time in order for the motor to start. The capacitor is part of the start circuit. When the motor goes to start, the voltage must be applied to the start winding in order for the motor to start or it will just hum. The moment the motor reaches a certain RPM the centrifugal switch opens up to remove the start voltage to the motor and it will remain running on the run winding. The motor will not start up on run voltage alone. It needs both, the start voltage and run voltage.

I think the problem is that the motor is not getting the start voltage supplied to the motor or the start winding has opened up in the motor.

Dryer starts when rotating sping loaded start switch and after releasing it dry stops.

Hello,

it souds as if the run winding on the motor is bad, all dryer motors have a run&start winding on the motor, the start winding comes on at the beginning to give teh motor a extra little ummph to start the motor then the start winding will cut out. What your experiencing is the start winding working but the run winding not., the motor can not be repaired but only replaced as a complete assambly

When i push the start button the dryer makes a buzzing sound and will not start up

you may have a shorted winding in the motor. check that no object is in the blower fan and that you can move the fan freely. if that is the case winding is bad. if fan moves hard the motor bearings bad, in ether case replace the motor.

good luck to you.

Dryer not turning not sure if its heating up. Is there a reset switch.. Just hums

your going to hate me now? if the dryer motor is humming its poped its clogs on you and you will need a mew motor fitted,,,the motor has two windings in it one of them is the starter winding some use a big capasitor that holds lots of volts to give this winding a realy hard kick to start the motor turning wonce its spinning the seconed winding can keep the motor spinning if a capasitor is fitted it could be that thats packed up but normaly its the first winding burnt out,,,
now your totally bored with me,,, you just found out you hate me as well

Dryer will not turn. makes a low hum for a few seconds then nothing.

Hello, Unfortunatly your primary winding on the motor is bad. basically when the motor first starts the primary winding gets the drum turning and does the hard work. when this winding fails the motor is not able to do the hard work to get the drum turning. If you took the lid off your dryer and hit start while helping the drum turn by pushing it the drum would start. Some techs on here talk about drilling holes in the motor and spraying oil inside the motor. In 25 years I have never seen this work on a motor this big. Only safe way to repair this problem is install a new motor. if you have any further questions please feel free to comment. Good luck! Mike

My pool motor has had problems starting occasionally. now it will not start at all. It is knocking the breaker.

The motor has a centrifugal start switch which connects the starter winding to the power source until the motor gets up to speed. Then it disconnects the start winding and connects the run winding.

Not starting intermittently could be a malfunctioning centrifugal start switch or a bad start winding.

Since the breaker is tripping, I would say it is likely that the start winding has shorted. In this case the motor will need to be rebuilt or replaced.

Please help our ac compressor wont come on

Hi, did you change, capacitor for compressor too. check compressor overload switch,(relay) normally located on compressor terminals, (where you connect wires to compressor) that's the device that goes klix when compressor goes to start, could be faulty, or maybe low voltage from your mains(house panel) check line voltage, with digital volt meter, some compressor won't start if voltage drops to low, yes fan will work, could also be, your compressor has a lock rotor, (hard start), you can buy a compressor hard start kit, from appliance store, and try to start compressor, or maybe compressor internal winding, are damage, especially now in summer, when you got a lots of voltage drops, check compressor winding, check compressor winding for short circuit, remove cover on compressor, remove 3 wires from compressor terminal, use ohm meter, put one tester lead on copper tubing that's connected to compressor, and next lead to compressor terminal, one by one, if you get beep (continuity) from anyone of those compressor terminal, you got a short- circuit in compressor, you will have to replace compressor, but if there's no short, them try hard- start kit, replace overload relay, you will see it at compressor terminal location, after you remove cover. good luck.
