Question about Audio Players & Recorders

I have a Bang&Olufsen Beogram

I have a Bang&Olufsen Beogram RX which has been sitting in the attic most of it's life, as I've moved on to CD's like the rest of the universe. Now I am trying to hook it with my stereo sytem, but am not getting very far because, though power is on in the turntable, the platform will not spin. I recall, or think I do, that when setting it up after a move, etc., there was something I had to do to unlock something. I know I'm sounding vague, but I really can't remember for sure. I don't believe anything could be wrong with the belt. It did revolve a few years ago when I attempted to hook it up to my Bose. (However, I discovered at that time that I'd have to add a preamplifier. So I just bagged the idea. Now as I'm trying again, the turntable won't tun when we turn it on. Can you help? Sir,

A belt-drive turntable is a work of art and a musical treasure. It provides listening pleasure that has yet to be fully realized by the compact disc and digital technology. Listen and compare with an open mind and you will believe.

Replace the Turntable belts....

thanks
good luck

I would still check the belt, rubber normally gets hard or soft depending on the temperature that it was expose to. You could also have to move the arm manually until engages the switch to activate the motor whenever you press the start/run button.
I'm working on one turntable as I type here, same condition with this one, in storage for a very long time.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

You need to remove the platter and look underneath it. There should be a belt that at this point is probably goo. Remove all of the old belt and replace it. I don't have the size with me at the moment but it is likely to be a 23.6" belt. If you can post the exact model number, I'll look up in my belt cross reference book and post the exact size.

Similar to most Beogram 1800, the RX 2 featured record sizing by weight. When Play was selected, the centre part of the platter would raise gently, with only just enough force to lift a 45RPM single. An LP would be too heavy to lift, so the mechanism would set itself to 45RPM and 18cm if the record lifted, 33RPM and 30cm if it did not. The speed control keys could then be used to override the choice for non-standard records. The parts could also detect if a record was not present, and prevent the turntable being activated
Just put lp on and it should work

Need power supply for bang & olufsen beosound 9000

However my experience of B&O is that the boards are well designed and are repairable at component level.
You will struggle to find a reasonable replacement, and if all the inductors are OK and there has been no big burn-up you would do better to replace the main capacitors and check the semiconductors. That will give you a good chance of getting it working.
A good electronics hobbyist or a local tv repair place might tackle the repair at component level.

I plugged in the CD Player Out into the Phono In jack on the back of my Receiver Yamaha RX V382 and turned up the volume to 1/3 at what point I heard a bang out from one of my loudspeakers. From that...

The first thing I can say is that the CD player should not have been connected to the phono jacks as this is for a record player, therefore you amplified the CD player output greater than what it should have been!
Next a damaged loudspeaker could cause problems to the amp. A simple test is to connect each speaker (disconected from the amp) for a second to 1.5 volt battery. You should hear a pop sound from each of the speakers and make certian that each unit inside the speaker pops too. If the speakers are 8 ohm set that switch at 8. Never connect 6 ohm speakers with it at 8! Check the cables are good and are not shorting out.
If I was you I would have a look inside the unit and have a look at the semi-conductors on the heat sink. You might see damage! If they are transistors you can put an ohm meter on the transistor terminals (B,C,E) (amp power off). If any act like you have just touch the test probes together, you have a shorted part and the reason it shuts down.

Sound distortion on beomaster 3300

There is a defect in the pre-amp section of the unit. Without seeing it and taking a few measurements, I can't give you any particulars. A rough estimate for a repair wouldbe about $10-$25 in parts plus the local labor rate.

Front speaker output is not working

Firstly ensure that the 'mute' has not been accidently engaged.

Have you tried connecting other speakers to the same output and cables? If the sound now works, the problem is with the speakers (providing all amplifier settings are correct and wiring is correct). It would be highly unusual to have a problem with both speakers or two sets of cables. Alternatively connect the problem cables and speakers to an alternative source. If they work on an alternative, you are looking at an amp issue.

some odd problems with beosound 9000 can be caused by the finger protection device.make sure the 2 clear plastic towers at either end of the aluminium part are clean as well as the underside of the glass door between the 2 towers.

I have bought an old B&O beogram rx2 turntable and am having difficulty playing any records. When I press play the needle will sit on the edge of the record but when it moves in to the grooves it seems...

If you cannot see a small tip on the needle then yes it is worn out,but you can check by rubbing your finger over the tip when the system is on,if you hear sound through the speakers then it should play the album, make sure that the weight at the back of the arm is set to keep the needle in the groove as this may be set to far back, move it forward to keep weight on the needle.

hope this helps.
