Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I re-installed XP on my Aspire 3610 Laptop. I do not see the wireless LAN in the device manager window or an icon for wireless connections in the Network Connections window. In the Device Manager Window under "Other Devices"there is a yellow question mark and a yellow question mark for Network Controller. Please help. My daughter is returning to college soon and without a wireless connection the laptop will be rendered virtually useless without access to the internet.

I hardwired the laptop and visited Acer's site and downloaded the most recent drivers for this particular laptop.
After the download and restart, still no wireless.

Did you download all of the drivers and the windows updates? Connect directly to the net and download them.

If you were to log on to acer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads (if applicable) as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

See it if there's a "?" color yellow icon for the device not installed on your PC. If you can see it then you must install the sound driver of your laptop. Wifi connectivity problem

It's possible that the driver for your wireless adapter is already installed. Check under Device Manager > Network Adapters if there is anything pertaining to your wireless adapter. Make sure that your wireless adapter (under Device manager > Network adapters) does not have any red X or yellow question mark.

Red X indicated that it's disabled , while yellow question mark will suggest that you need to update the driver. If your wireless adapter is working properly under Device Manager > Network adapters then you will need to configure it's utility for wireless connection.

If you are running windows XP, look for the wireless icon in the lower right side of your task bar and use it to connect to your preferred network.

Good luck and have a nice day!
