PD170 Record Button Won't Work

Hello,
My PD170 won't record. I've switched tapes, re-powered multiple times - nothing. None of the record buttons work. Any thoughts?

I also have a similar problem, boton doesnt work and a error message is on the screen C30:31 and the eject symbol is also on the screen.
I already try whit diferents tapes
I supose that the camera doesnt recognize the tapes or is somethig mechanical.
Can someone help me? I live in spain

Without taking the camera apart, it will be difficult to say with any confidence. Have you looked around to see what a repair estimate will cost? Perhaps you can get a detailed estimate from a local shop. We may be able to walk you through the repair?

    dear deconoel...here the solution..
you must use remote commander here the step to check :
    1. page 0 address 01 data 01
    2. page d address 10 data 02 for entering mechanical system
    3. page 3 adress 01 data 0b for testing mechanical without cassete

Handycam CCD TR517 Doesn't record

These models have a switch for 3 different modes of record. one where you press the red button once, one for having to hold the red button in and a 5 second record feature, check this mode. also check and make sure the tape you are using did not have the record save switch slid into record save position..

Won`t Rewind

Do you still have the remote control? Try with the remote. If this works, the button of the camera is broken and have to be replace by a qualified technician. Good luck!

Red power light flashes twice and unit will not record. I will not play a tape, none of the tape keys work (rewind, fordward, or pause, etc). I do get a picture in both the vcr and camera mode but the tape...

1. Take out the tape - AND TURN THE CAMERA POWER ON
2. press the menu button (near the viewfinder)
3. Use he wheel on top next to the viewfinderto scroll through the choices
4. Choose "display setup" by pushing the wheel in
5. Choose "C. Rest" by pushing the wheel in
6. Turn camera off
7. Next time you turn camera on y ou should be able to view tapes and record.
IT DID NOT WORK THE FISRT TIME SO I PUT MY FINGER IN TO TRY TO GENTLY PUSH BUTTON WHEN I TOOK THE TAPE OFF AND THEN TRIED SOLUTION ABOVE AGAIN, AND THIS TIME, IT WORKED. BUT PLEASE DONT INSERT YOUR FINGERS IN AS I DID TRY THE SOLUTION 2 OR THREE TIME IT SHOULD BE OK, HOPE THIS WORKS FOR YOU,
THANKS AND CREDIT TO LABBER

Help! Stopped Recording

Do you have a remote? Some camcorders you have to hit the record pause button on the remote and then hit pause. It then begins recording. I hope this works for you.

Record button doesn't function

You may want to check the record lockout safety switch located on the tape. This button can get moved by accident and the camera will refuse to record on that tape. Also, be sure the camera is in "video" mode, not "photo" mode. Some of Canons camcorders have a digital still camera mode which stops the camcorder from functioning because the photos are being recorded to a memory card and not your tape, please check this swithc as well. Good luck. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
