Question about Philips Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi, my Philips DVP5100 keeps ejecting DVDs. When loading a disc, it reads it for a short time showing LOAD. Then it ejects disc. Does it mean laser is gone?

It sounds like the drawer assembly may be out of alignment...may be caused by shoving the door in instead of pressing the button to load the dvd....the timing of the drawer and the laser assembly is critical to the proper operation on most dvd's...another possibility is that if the unit has a belt drive for the door load components, the belt may be slipping enough to cause it to not fully load...It makes the player think that you never put a disk in it so it will keep ejecting because it never received a "full load" signal from the drawer components. You can take the cover off and watch the operation of this to see if it is loading all the way..if not then you will either need to have repaired or try to obtain the service literature yourself to re-align the gears to make it load properly

    Thanks for a reply!
Before reading you post, I've taken out the cover to look at the loading process. Disc is taken properly and it seem like it loads fully into the place. Disc was spinned twice for few seconds and that was it - it was ejected. I've cleaned lenses as well, but it didn't help. I've tried to do it lots of times and only after lots of tries once he did read the disc for one time. There were some times that it was a problem to get disc out - it stuck just before the end. I'm wondering if it's mechanical problem of bad alignment or it is the laser?

Seems like it is probably mechanical alignment....mech. alignment is very critical...the gears have timing marks on them..such as an engine...that need to be aligned properly...the service manuals for these units contain the alignment details

Hi there, I purchased a Bush lcd/ dvd combi for my daughter 18 months ago.... All of a sudden it is not reading the dvds and automatically ejecting them, any ideas on what the problem is, and how possibly...

Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is the spinning problem of disc inside it. If loaded disc does not spins, the mechanism will eject it. The reason for this is damaged sled motor. Sled motor is one which spins the disc inside at high speed. It can be replaced. The second reason is of Laser Pickup Unit itsef. If it does not emit laser beam, the main system circuit will recogonise as there is no disc in the tray, and play function is energised, and will eject the tray out. Check for the first one. This is most comon fault with DVD players. OK.

The DVD drawer on my Audiologic keeps opening and closing on its own and will not play.

by this i take it you mean when you try to load a dvd this happens. ok the problem is either 1 - a bad run on the tray this fault needs a service tech to repair. fault 2 most common if the laser can not read the disc it will eject it. as a safe mode to not trap the disc. to fix this go to an electronics supply shop and purchase a laser disc cleaner it looks just like a cd/dvd except it has small brushes on it to clean the laser eye on the player run the disc several times

best of luck

My Playstation 3 wont load any games the menu shows up and i go to the GAME section and it wont show the disc. Please help. Thanks.

The most common reason for the Wii not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:

store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr

This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your Wii including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your Wii going again!

The cd gets ejected without being read.

As long as it does that on more than 1 disc, it can be a couple of things. The lid has to be taken off so you can see and listen to what is happening. #1 If it takes it all the way in and spins the disc, it most likely cannot read the disc usually because the laser lens needs to be cleaned or the laser is defective. You will hear the lens going up and down, making a clicking noise over and over and then it ejects it. #2 If it cannot load it all the way in and does not even spin the disc, it is usually a rubber loading belt is slipping and needs to be cleaned or replaced. You will hear the motor running and running without taking the disc all the way in. It will never spin the disc, then eject it. Other things can cause it also but those 2 are the first things to look at. :)

DVD ejects itself shortly after inserting

If you have tried cleaning the laser lens and the unit does spin,You have a defective laser assy, this is common with these players. If unit does not spin, try spinning it when you insert a disc by hand as this may start the unit spinning,if starts spinning then unit has a bad spin motor.

My ps3 wont play blu ray movies or games but cds and dvds work fine

The Blu Ray Diode fried when you shut the power switch on in the back. The PS3 uses 2 different lasers to read disks. One for standard dvd's and cd's and one for Blu Ray. The only way to fix your PS3 is to replace the Blue Ray Diode or laser lens. I would recommend paying the $150 bucks to have sony replace unless you know something about Diodes and lasers.
If you hold down the eject button for 10 seconds it will reset your laser and then you should be able to shut the power down in back safetly.
Formatting and or resetting the hard drive won't do a thing if your diode is fried.
I found a work-around to get it to read discs though. You have to have a bluray disc in the drive (game or movie) and start a downloaded game or Playstation Home. Once the game or Home loads, hit the PS button on the controller. The crossbar menu will pull up and you will notice the disc icon will (magically) pop up. Click the quit game icon. Once you are out of the downloaded game or Home the disc icon will still be there. You can then load the game or disc. The icon will remain there until you eject the disc, so you will have to repeat this every time you want to load a game.

Check What Resolution You Have Saved On the PS3 Maybe When It goes Blu-Ray Its To High Res For The Standard TV..
if you felt i have spent my time to help you... a very helpful rating is appreciated for answering ur query...

I place dvd in and after loading it saids please eject the disc playback feature may not be available on this disc. i tried one of my dvd's, and it did the same thing.

well, maybe by having the player un-plugged overnight i will see a difference tomorrow, but for now i had to buy an upgrade DVD player, the laser eye cleaners only clean small scratches in the eye and the main problem from that is when all of the dvds played either skip or freeze, in this case the dvd will not spin or load the disc menu, good luck!
