I HAVE BLACK LINES DOWN EACH SIDE OF MY FAXES THAT I DONT KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF

If they are on the faxes that you send you need to clean the reading glass; open the cover where you place your originals when faxing and look in there and there is a thin glass that runs left to right. Clean the glass with a lint free cloth and glass cleaner with out ammonia or some rubbing alcohol.

If the lines are on your incoming faxes it is most likely from your drum. Replace your drum and that will most likely correct the problem.

Black line down left side of sheet, if i'm copying a page that is and i can't get rid of it no matter what i try i've changed the drum and the toner and still get a line down the whole sheet

If the received fax's are ok and there is no line; and you only get the line when you make a copy....I assume the people you send to are also getting the black line down the page,?? then the problem is in the optics...favorite is some kind of dirt, glue, or corrector fluid on the glass that the original passes over when you make the copy.

Most Mustek scanners have a black inside cover on the lid, this can give a black line down the side of the job.
ether cover the inside of the lid with white paper or place a bigger sheet on top of the sheet to be scanned!

Copies here and recipients faxes: dark, lined

How long has the drum been in there?
try this:
1-take out toner, look and see if it is ok. do you see stripes on it?
2- look at the drum are there any black rings on it? ( you did not specify white or black lines)
3- where the glass is on the opposite side ( the part you lifted to clean the glass, look at it standing from the back. you will see a white metal plate with some springs in it if you touch it. this is the reference that the fax has if there is/are a black dot on it it will give you a black line clean carefully. if it is scratched use white out to cover and make white again.

For the darkness try making a copy in photo mode if it is still too dark change drum.
