An alternative to buying a new battery would be to have your old batteries rebuild. You can bring them to your nearest Interstate all Battery Center and they can fix it for you.

See if you can put a volt meter on the metal contacks of the charger to see what voltage it is producing. If you have a friend who has the same drill have him try to charge your batteries and then measure the battery voltage.

How can I test whether the charger or battery id faulty. I live in Windhoek,Namibia

You have to check You have to check the battery and charger for voltage with a volt meter. The charger should be putting out at least 14.5 volts and the battery should read 14 volts. There are metal contacks on the battery and on the charger inside the hole where you insert the battery.

I can't remove my rechargeable battery to charge it

There are 2 small latches, one on each side of the battery.  You must push these in while pulling down on the battery to remove it.

Here is a link to the user manual if you need more help.  It provides an illustration of the method on pg 14.

Makita 14 volt cordless drill, model 4337, just decided to slowl down and go dead.\r\ndrill is beyond warranty period and has been used only 5 or 6 times. does any one have any ideas???

The batterys don't last for ever dosn't really matter how many times you use it but never leave it in the garage or cold places that will distory the battery life and mermorey. Its a good gun so it may be worth getting new batterys just try to run them down all the way before recharging and never leave batterys in the cold and it will work and least 3 to 4 years before you need new batterys

I have a mikita 12 volt and when I charge it it wont hold charge.

do you have a volt meter toi check the charger voltage? if so then read the voltage out of the charger, it should be 1 or 2 volts higher than the listing 12v would be 13 or 14 volts. if it's working you probally do have a bad battery. if the charger is out then you have a bad charger.
