Question about GE Profile 26.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Dispenser TFX27PRBWW

GE profile refrg. with ice maker

Any type of Ice is not coming out when you push on the dispense lever. You only hear lots of noise. Lots of clumps of ice getting stuck out side the ice maker and makes it difficult to open the freezer door. However, inside the ice maker is plenty of ice.

Too much ice, maybe the ice maker didn't connect right, the gears moves but the spring inside the ice maker won't move.

try pulling out the ice bucket, remove all ice and look for signs of damage on the auger mechanism... most of the time the ice tends to clump up and that prevents the auger from moving freely.

Icemaker makes ice; door dispenser cranks, but no ice dispensed

sounds like either the dispenser motor is bad or the dispenser yoke is stripped. remove the bucket from the freezer. you will see a u shaped yoke in the rear of the disp area. this should be fairly hard to turn by hand if it turns easily then the motor gears are bad if the yoke slips on the motor shaft then you have a stripped yoke. hope that helps. peyton...

Hello azcowgirl19

Welcome to fixya,

You said, You have a GE Profile side/side refrigerator which was delivered on 4/19/08. When the ice comes down the chute it makes a lot of noise - so much noise that you cannot hear another person speak within the same room. Is there anyway that this clattering can be cushioned?
Also, the ice seems to clump up into a large ball and when it tries to go threw the coils, it shakes and rattles the entire appliance. Other than removing the lg clump of ice is there anyway to prevent this?

Yes I do recognize the problem.
The ice maker has a couple of defective parts in it!
Lucky for you you still have a warranty for this GE Profile fridge and did not waste anytime looking into it!
In the USA, Call GE at 1(800) GE CARES , and tell them the ice maker has multiple problems so they can service it while you still have your full parts and labor warranty!

Let me know how it goes!

Ice dispenser in door clogged up or frozen

I see this a lot with people who mainly used crushed ice.  It will leave small pieces of ice behind and add up to a clogged situation.  If you mainly used crushed ice you will need to run full cubes thru every so often to keep the chute clear.  Another cause of this would be the flapper door on the dispenser doesn't close completely and warm air gets in and melts the ice in the bin so it clumps together and won't dispense.  In this case you may need to replace the solenoid that shuts the door and/or the door.  Let me know what you find.
