Question about Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera

1 Answer

Flash Error Hi there, bought this camera about 6 months ago. I'm intermittently getting a problem with the pop-up flash. It pops up fine, but the screen gives me an error telling me it hasn't and won't take any shots. Have to keep switching it off and on and hoping it will work again. Sometimes it's a couple of days before it works again. It will take shots when I switch the camera to the 'no flash' setting, so it does seem to be just the flash. The error says that the flash release is jamming, but it's working fine! Help! Thanks.

I keep getting an error 5 - contacted canon and they gave me a couple of suggestions that didn't work. Went to a Best Buy to try and get help and the service was terrible. Guess I will have to send it in.

The error 5 can mean that there is something blocking the flash from popping up. If it is up but still get the message then you need to check to see if the little black pin/stick that lets the camera know that the flash is up, is not stuck. With the flash up and pointed at you ( like you are going to take a picture of yourself) the pin is located on the right side close to the where the flash attaches to the camera. Yo should see a little pin sticking up. make sure that area is free of dust and /or debris. if it is not up then that is the problem. try to free it with out braking it or get it professionally repaired.

I have a Vivitar Camera that I bought from a Pawn Shop. The Flash worked fine for the first few months having it. I didn't use it for a while, and once I finally did, I heard 3 pops. After that my flash no...

The 8025 is a very cheap camera....I hope you didn't pay more than $15 at the pawn shop. Your camera has a blown flash tube. The camera could have been dropped in water by the previous owner. You could have bought one at Walmart that would have at least worked a little longer.

I bought my new canon eos 60D..i put on external flsah to use..then after i take off the external flash, my camera's built in flash cannot pop up to take flash even i had press the flash button. How?

Hi, What external flash did you use on your Canon 60D? The internal flash will not automatically pop up if in the "Creative Zone" it will pop up with the button in the creative zones (M, AV, TV and P) it will not pop up with the button if you are in the the full auto mode (that's the little green box mode) but, should pop up automatically if required. The flash should pop up automatically in the basic zone for Portrait, close up and night photography, the button won't activate (pop up) the flash. Also the internal flash will not pop up if there is an accessory in the hot shoe. Again what external flash was it you used and did it flash?

Canon EOS Rebel XSi pop up flash won't "pop down"

Do not Tape it down, If the flash is pooping up all the time take it to a good Camera repair shop to have the catch replaced. At the same Time you may consider getting a full service done.

You may have it turned off. Find the button with the lightning bolt and press it while watching the screen. Press until you get the lightning bolt with an "A" beside it.

Built-in flash auto pop-up problem

Does the 'pop up' pop up? If it does and still says obstructed- closes it and pop it again If it still persists Canon customer support will advise the next move. If a repair price seems high you could perhaps get a separate flash if the camera accepts them.

My Flash suddenly will not pop up.

Hi Randy, It seems like the problem could be the settings. Try to set the flash manually, and then try to pop it up. If this doesn't work, and since the pop up flash release is electronic, have the camera cleaned at a camera shop. This would be a small price to pay if it works, and would be worth it for such a great camera. Please let me know if this works for you. Best regards, nightdiver
