Question about Encore WIRELESS LAN EXTENDER

1 Answer

The router was reset. So, our AP does not work with it anymore. I reset the AP to restore it to its factory default settings and tried to follow the steps I made before in configuring the AP. but i can't access http://192.168.1.1 so I could not log in to the AP's page where you configure the settings. I remember the last time I configured it, we have entered the mac address of the AP to the main computer unit. But this time I haven't entered it since the main unit is currently unavailable. Is that the reason why I can't access 192.168.1.1? the brand of the AP is encore enrxwi-g. I hope you can help me in here. thanks a lot.

Before you configure this device, note that when the AP is configured through an Ethernet connection, (via RJ45 Network Cable) make sure the manager PC must be set on same the IP network. For example, when the default network address of the default IP address of the AP is 192.168.1.1, then the manager PC should be set at 192.168.1.x (where x is a number between 2 and 254), and the default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
Open Internet Explorer 5.0 or above Web browser.
Enter IP address http://192.168.1.1 (the factory-default IP address setting) to the address location. Please refer here to the Latest User Manual for Encore ENRWI-G Page 9 onwards describes the login details.

Hope this Helps!

thanks for the reply. When you say manager PC, is it the pc where I plugged in the ethernet cable or the pc that manages the internet connection?

  • Nicole provido Jan 01, 2011

if the manager pc is the one where I attached the ethernet, then I have already set my IP address to 192.168.1.5 ,Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0, default gateway to 192.168.1.1. still can't access 192.168.1.1 even the wifi is disabled.

Note:

Resetting the router to the factory defaults will delete any changes you have made to the router, including any security settings. This should be used as a last resort.

Need password to my netgear router n 300

what is the model #?
Most netgear routers default to a username of "admin" and password is either " admin ", "password" or it is just blank. Those are the defaults unless someone changed it.
If you cant get in you can hold down the reset button on the back for 30 seconds (while it is plugged into power) and that will set it back to factory default settings then one of the above should work.
If this was a help please give me 4 thumbs up as I am trying to build up my rep on this site!

Hi, i have a belkin54g router, with a Netopia modem, and Bellsouth(AT&T) internet connection. my computer will not let me access the router page through 192.168.2.1 or any other common IP address...

Go into your network connection properties spydrt_7.jpg

Make sure they are set to automatically obtain IP addresses.
spydrt.gif

Then go to the command prompt and type in ipconfig

The default gateway will be the address that you need to type in the browser to bring up the router interface. If nothing happens after that, you may need to reset your router defaults by doing a hard reset on the router.

The "Reset" button is used in rare cases when the WAP may function
improperly. Resetting the WAP will restore the WAP's normal operation while
maintaining the programmed settings. You can also restore the factory default
settings by using the Reset button. Use the restore option in instances where
you may have forgotten your custom password.

a. Resetting the WAP
Push and release the Reset button. The lights on the WAP will
momentarily flash. The Power/Ready light will begin to blink. When the
Power/Ready light becomes solid again, the reset is complete.

b. Restoring the Factory Defaults
Press and hold the Reset button for five seconds then release it. The
lights on the WAP will momentarily flash. The Power/Ready light will
begin to blink. When the Power/Ready light becomes solid again, the
restore is complete.

Forgot password to acess< and or its still default setting. could you tell me what the wireless 700 routers default password is

Restore Factory Default Settings When you restore factory default settings to the base station, you clear your Internet connection settings and any special base station configurations that you have established. After the restore is complete, you will need to reconfigure your base station settings or restore these settings from a backup file. You should restore the original factory default settings only under the following circumstances: O You are experiencing serious problems with your base station, and resetting the base station does not fix the problem. O You cannot remember your base station password. In this situation, you must restore the factory default settings by using the Restore button on the base station, and then use the default password admin to log on to the Base Station Management Tool. To restore factory default settings 1. Open the Base Station Management Tool, and then click Management. 2. On the Management menu, click Back Up and Restore Settings. 3. Under Restore factory default settings, click Restore Factory Default Settings. While the original factory default settings are being restored to the base station, the Power light on the base station turns orange. When the light is solid green, the settings have been restored. If you want to open the Base Station Management Tool after the settings have been restored, type admin as the password on the Logon page. Do not attempt to log on to the base station until the settings are restored and the Power light on the base station is solid green. After you restore the factory default settings to the base station, you should navigate to each page of the Base Station Management Tool and reestablish the network settings you want, or restore the base station settings by using a backup file. For information about creating a backup file of your settings, see the following section. Be sure to establish your unique base station password as soon as possible after restoring the factory default settings to prevent unauthorized users from logging on. For more information, see “Change the Base Station Password.” please rate this answer, thanks
