the panels going bad. sometimes the panel will seperate dew to the heat that it produces. most of the time its not economical to fix these type of issues.

Try giving them a call and ask for their assistance in fixing the problem with dew indicator.They will be able to help you with this problem. I hope this information will help you fix your problem.

check the gasket or rubber o ring under the distributer cap

Eject the tape. Leave the tape carriage open. Power the unit off and tent it with a light linen cloth for about 20 minutes in a warm but obviously low humidity area. Emergency/ short time approach: Clean hair blow-dryer. Set for warm/low heat. Turn on and "wave" the warm air into the tape mechanism section about 18 to 12 inches away from the camera's open gate/door. Bake for 3-5 minutes..

This happens when you take camera from cold(er) environment to warmer environment, dew forms on the recording head, so as a precaution the unit locks up. The solutions is to leave the unit switched on and wait till the dew incator goes out( can take up to an hour) I found this out when on holiday, i would go from an air conditioned room to bright sunshine and it happened all the time.

Dew sensor is defective and you need to replace it to fix the problem.

It is possible that the dew sensor is faulty or more likely that the connection from teh sensor to the rest of the camera is faulty. This unit will require repair. If you can soler, you may be able to resolve this. I'll look up your model to see how bad the access is to the sensor.

I had this same problem, and believe it or not, it is very simple to fix.
The fault is a dry joint on the dew sensor circuit.
This can be fixed permanently with a soldering iron, or if you don't want to kill the camcorder you can do a temporary fix each time the message occurs.

If you remove the tape and look down inside the camcorder, towards the front, next to a green circuit board, you will see two small blobs of solder with a wire running from each.

The image below shows the most likely position that needs either soldered or pushing in with a screwdriver or other fine metal device. You can remove the batteries first, for extra safety.

I was in Shanghai in Dec 2008 over Christmas and I experienced the 'DEW' problem. The cassette tape door would not close either. I did not experience this before even after 2 years. I suppose the cold & the rain water causes the dew to accumulate in the CAM.

Solution.
I did the reset by taking out the small tiny battery situated just above the big battery. The small battery has a cover. Pull it up & Get the small battery out and the whole camera resets. Re-entering the date & time is the only inconvenience. After reseting, I could use it again, but not for long as the problem comes back. When I came back to Malaysia (Temp 32-34 degrees celsius), the DEW problem disappappers.

You could also try this method to get rid of the dew. Buy a small sack of rice. Yes rice, the uncooked ones. Cut open a small opening just big enough to put your CamCorder into the sack. If you do not want to get your CAM dirty, wrap the CAM with tissue paper. Close the opening with a musking tape and leave it a few days. The dew should disappear from the CAM. It works for mobile phones too when it is accidentally drop into water. Of cause you should not switch on the mobile when it is still wet. It will self distruct if you do. Try the rice solution for a week before you on your mobile.

camcorder when turned on flashes in red DEW and closes it self down. i have taken all the batteries out and replaced sometimes after a few days the camcorder will work then DEW will rea ppear and shut itself down
