A PC can always power off because it cannot run without power. Now with that said, there are certain issues which can prevent it from turning off properly when you tell it to shut down. I can provide you with a better response if you do this:

    - Start Menu
    - Help and Support
    - Pick a Task
    - Tools
    - Advanced System Information
    - View the Error Log

Post your results in here for what appears on the Error Log during the shut down process.

Its main problem can be classified into two categories..

  • check the motherboard processor and other components
  • else first re-install a genuine OS..
  • Then it going to be working properly...check it..

Acer Aspire 7560 wont restart

Before shutting down your system click on any programs still running and shut them down. This will cut the time for normal shut down to take place.

You could also run a hard drive diagnostic to see if it has any errors. There might be some if you don't let the computer shut down itself. Restarting can also cause the programs to become corrupt, if they didn't shut down right. Running a defrag on the drive will also help it shut down quicker.
Look on the net also for information on getting your PC to shut down quicker.

Tip

Customize the Shut down button windows 7

Customize the Shut down button The default action of the Start Menu's Shut down button is to turn off your PC. If you want to use the button for another action, such as restarting your PC, you click the arrow to the right of the Shut down button and select an action from the drop-down menu.
What if you rarely shut your PC down completely but frequently restart it? You can change the Shut down button's default action to be Restart -- or Switch user, Log off, Lock, Sleep or Hibernate.
To change your default, right-click the Start button and select Properties. On the Start Menu tab, click the "Power button action" drop-down menu and select which action you want to be the default. Then click OK, and OK again.

When I shut down it reemained with shutting Down

No problem, possibly due to null pointer allocation to shutdown thread. Just switch the notebook off using the power button, restart & select start windows normally.

I put in the recovery desk. I pushede F11 as prompted. I then pushed "R" for recovery and the computer shuts back down before recovery.

Hello,

Some model of emachine will cycle through the recovery process. When your pc shuts down after pushing R, is it immediatly or does the pc perform a bit longer and then shut down? Also, when it shut down, do you push any buttons? (you should not have to.)

Thanks

PC shuts down. When you turn on the pc it shuts

try to change the source, that should solve the problem. But before try reset CMOS. (if you don`t know how to do it by jumper simple remove the battery from the mainboard for 5 minutes and then plug it back on..and after that turn on your computer and press F1 for default settings)

I cannot shut down or restart my PC using the start menu prompts. The only way to shut her down is a hard shut down (manually turn her off).

There is a program that is failing to shut down in general, which is delaying the computers ability to shut down.
The next time you shut down, make sure you have no programs open. Then, while attempting to shut down, wait until Windows pops up window asking you to close a non-responsive program. When it does, take note of the program that it mentions, then close it and see if Windows shuts down. Note: sometimes this takes a really long time.
Try re-installing the non-responsive program and see if your computer can shut down normally again.

E-machine computer will not shut down

When you say "it will not shut down", are you referring to clicking on start and then shut down?

You could try forcing a shut down by holding the power switch down for about 5 seconds.
