Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

Below is a link to common solutions that will help you with parts and diagnostic procedures that are specifically tuned to your manufacturers data plate information.
It provides exploded view imagery, belt routing diagrams, parts imagery and function, parts ordering and shipping information, error code details, just about anything you need to get your appliance up and running again. Once you access the site you will be able to navigate numerous pages of information on your product. You will need to enter your model number to access your product information.

Tip: Always provide the complete information provided on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the user’s manual. This will help you acquire a more accurate and expeditious response to your complaint. I will post the most common solutions to your complaint. For more specific information please refer to the tip and/or link provided. Here are some things to look for:

Based on the description of your complaint, you may have a faulty motor. Remove the drum belt and if the motor won't start replace the motor. If the motor starts, then you will need to inspect for faulty rollers, drum glides, blower obstruction, or other restriction. The link provided above will allow you to price and order a new motor or other parts.

Why doesn't drum turn when the start button is pushed?

try turning the drum by hand while on dry cycle> just tape shut or hold door switch in by hand then have someone turn the drum? see if it starts? if so ur motor windings may be bad ad not pushing enough power to run machine, also check the thermal fuse and other thermostats as u may have shorted them somehow? lastly check the belt and tensioner as the motor switch may have switched off if there was a problem with the belt

Baril ne tourne pas

What kind of dryer is this? I assume that this is a front-loading belt-driven drum dryer. What happens if you turn the drum by hand? If it turns freely, it could be that you have a broken belt. If there is some resistence to turning the drum, is it possible to turn the drum while trying to start the dryer (this may require pushing the interlock button and the start button at the same time you turn the drum)? If the dryer starts to work with a little push, the problem is most likely a capacitor on the motor. Otherwise your motor may be work out - worn brushes or bearings.

My ED56 won't start unless you turn the drum by hand why?

If you can turn the drum and then the dryer starts you have a bad motor. The way the dryer works is when you initially push the start button, electricity is sent to the start winding, or stator, of the motor. This will in turn start the motor turning. From there the stator will drop out of the electrical process and at the same time the run winding, or rotor, will take over and the motor will continie to run. Your stator is damaged, has a burn spot, etc so by you turning the drum, the belt around the drum is moved which is attached to the motor pulley. You basically take the place of the stator. Long story short, you have a bad motor.

Dryer makes loud humming noise but drum doesn't turn when I push start.

Check to see if the drum will turn by hand. If so, leave the door open but push the light switch button down and start the unit. Once you hear the humming sound, manually turn the drum with your hand to start. If the drum turns normally, you have a bad motor and needs to be replaced. If the drum does not turn, something is jamming the motor and needs to be disassembled and inspected.
Good luck

My electric dryer will not start light works on inside and it will make a noise like it wants to start but nothing happens

If drum turns easily by hand, motor capacitor may have failed - motor will hum but not turn.
If drum difficult to turn, needs bearings or kevlar runner.

No brake lights, tunr work fine but not the brake

Under the hood. Fuse panel behind the battery. It doesn't look like your standard fuse, but it's a square blue (20A) socket that you just remove by hand.

When start button is pushed, hums but does not run. Drum does not turn. Belt is okay

It sounds like it is the motor or a stuck/obstructed blower wheel. You can start by opening the door, push the door switch in, hit the start button & see if you can turn the drum clockwise by hand. This might get it going. if the drum does not move by hand then the problem is probably within the blower. post your findings for a follow up
