Hi it is a Bosch Classic Electronic - the main problem is that the water won't drain out. Although dishes don't get clean if they aren't rinsed, this isn't really a new problem - has always been teh same the draining issue has only started in the last 48 hours.

    Cheers

Hi, well usually when a DW will not drain, it has something to do with, the Pump, the outlet hose, or the internal pipes being blocked, or all of them..
What you need to do, is check for anything blocking the outlet or pump etc. To do this one must obtain a service manual, for the exact make and model. In these manuals are step by step instructions on how to troubleshoot and remedy common problems.
To assist you I give you a site below to visit, it shows you step by step what to do.

It would be helpful in identifying the causes for the problem if you provide the make and model number of the dishwasher.

It is likely the chopper assembly is clogged which is preventing proper ciruculation of water through the wash arms.

Will not drain

Hello Keith, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

Often when a dishwasher does not drain, it is because the drain hose may be clogged or you have a faulty drain pump. First, I recommend cleaning the glass trap that is located in the center of the unit designed to collect pieces of broken straws, bones, glass, etc. The filter can be removed for cleaning by simply grasping the handle and lift it out. Once you empty the filter, you may wash it with warm soapy water and allow it dry. Then place filter back. However, if you continue to have water left in the sump and the dishwasher is making a grinding noise, then it is recommended that the drain motor be diagnosed. You can locate a certified technician directly through the manufacturer website or in your local directory.

Our 2 year old Miele dishwasher (G1182/G2182) makes a strange popping/grinding glass noise when draining. We used 1 bottle of Finish Intensive care & clean with no improvement. Any suggestions?

there is a piece of debris in the drain pump. remove the triple filter from the bottom ( the one you are supposed to clean every week to keep debris out of the drain pump) under that filter and to the left hand side you will see the non return valve. squeeze the tab and pull the non return valve out. remove the broken glass or whatever is stuck in the drain pump impeller. replace the non return valve. replace the filter. if you need a picture go to mieleusa.com, and search for your owners manual. it has step by step tutorials on how to free an obstruction from your drain pump.

After dishwasher run through it's cycle, the water does not drain properly and remains in bottom of the dishwasher

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

The dishwasher won't drain completely. Water is left standing in the bottom of the tub.

There is always water left in the drain at the bottom of the dishwasher, which gets sprayed back on the dishes so now my glasses have material on them and it gets baked on in the dry cycle....

Piece of glass dropped through the filter housing when cleaning. Now there is a sound like the motor is jammed.

Hi ghedinger,

Seems something is stuck on your drain motor, now to thoroughly clean the unit and part, do the following:

- Remove as much residual water as possible from the sump and drain hose.
- Open the door.
- Remove the bottom basket.
- Remove the bottom spray arm.
- Unscrew the bottom spray arm flange.
- Remove the filter combination.
- Lay the dishwasher on its back.

Now you will see the Drain pump, like so:

jedemeyer1_10.jpg
Now you need to remove the drain pump from the housing to clean it thoroughly:

- Disconnect the pump plug connections.
- Open the safety retainer clip with a screwdriver
- Turn the pump clockwise and pull it from its holder

Now clean the impeller area, and then re-fit everything (Remember: When refitting, apply a little water or soap solution to the pump seal as a slip lubricant.) Then Test

Hope this helps :-)

If you found this solution helpful, please rate accordingly

Bosch dishwasher wont drain. At end of cycle is full of cloudy water.

It is possible if you have broken a glass recently that the piece of glass has made its way to the drain pump impeller. You need to remove bottom basket. Remove the filter strainer clamp by rotating CCW. There may be another round filter under the strainer (depending on model). Then with a torque screwdriver remove one screw which holds the plastic pump cover on. Remove the pump cover and pay close attention to the pump impeller. Does it rotate by finger movement? If not it could be jamed with a piece of broken glass. You must remove any obstruction to allow the impeller to turn. I usually force a paper towel piece (half piece while rotating the impeller by finger to allow the paper towel to bring up any obstruction below the impeller) Reassemble the cover and filters carefully and make sure the final strainer clamp aligns correctly with its marks. This insures nothing will make its way to the impeller in future.

Not cleaning dishes especiialy the ones on top rack. Found some broken glass pieces in bottom. No obstructions in line leading up to top washer. It looks like the pump is not pumping enough water pressure...

If you remove the filter in the sump area underneath the lower dish rack (removing the screws to do so) you may find debris blocking/jaming the impeller area. Be very careful of almist invisible broken glass. Inspect the impeller to make sure it is properly in place and not damaged.
Confirm that the spray arms are not pluged.
If problems continue and the impeller is in good shape, the pump motor may be failing. Please get back to me if problems persist but also include the Make and Model number whe nyou do.
