You might have hidden your icons by accident. Try right-clicking and in Windows XP, "arrange by" and make sure there is a check-mark by "show desktop icons"
In Vista and Windows 7 rick-click select "view" and make sure that "show desktop icons" is checked.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Hitachi How To

The use of desktop icons has served to simplify opening and using programs in Microsoft Windows.
With a simple click of the mouse, an entire program can be opened.
Unfortunately those desktop icons can also be deleted, sometimes accidentally or sometimes by the desktop cleaning utility that runs in Windows, but there is a simple process to recover desktop icons.
Just follow these steps.

Click it without a ticket.
To restore lost desktop icons, first place your mouse anywhere in a blank area on your desktop. Once you have placed your cursor in an unused area of the desktop, right click.
Check the pop up.
Once you have right-clicked your mouse in the unused area of your desktop you will receive a pop up menu or prompt.
Choose "Properties" by left clicking it with your mouse.

Grab that tab. Once you have clicked on "Properties" you will receive a dialog box.
Click on the tab labeled "Desktop."

Customize it.
Once you have clicked the "Desktop" tab choose "Customize Desktop" which will prompt another dialog box to open.
From there click on the "General" tab.

Restore order.
After you have clicked the "General" tab you will see a list of icons.
Simply choose the icons you want restored or placed on the desktop and then click "OK."
That's it.
You have now successfully restored your desktop icons.

I have deleted pqservice please help

Start -> Search -> pqservice -> Start search -> when this Acer Recovery Utility is found single left click to highlight it -> right click on highlighted area -> send to -> Desktop (create shortcut) -> double click on new pqservice desktop icon to test.

If the above does not fix the problem:

start -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore -> restore my computer to an earlier time -> next -> select a bold date on the calendar to the left and an even in the event schedule to the right that both precede/predate whatever change in settings that caused your application's icon or file directory to change configuration -> restore -> restart computer without interrupting to complete restore process -> look for the lost Utility in its usual place.

If none of these resolve the problem, then the Utility may have accidentally been deleted by yourself or perhaps by another user, without your knowledge and you may have to download and reinstall the missing Utility from the Acer Support Drivers and Utilities Download website.

Acer Utilities Download Webpage (see drop down menu beside Empowering Technology and Utilities and look under eData Security):

Messenger has gone from my desktop

This may happened if you have deleted the Yahoo Messenger Icon from the Desktop, you can create a shortcut again by clicking Start and type as Yahoo Messenger in the search box to locate the Yahoo Messenger Icon, then right click on the Yahoo Messenger Icon>Send to >Create Desktop (CreateShortcut). If the Yahoo Messenger Icon is missing when searched through Start Menu, then re-install the Yahoo Messenger from any one of the link below:

Start up and desktop icons missing

Hi,

This could happen due to various reasons like :
1. Any recent update done.
2) Virus infected
3) Windows missing/corrupted files.

There are several steps to resolve the issue.

Try one after another and check if that fixes the issue.

Step 1

Try this Fix
Click on the Download link and install the Fix No. 195 ( Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar )
Download Link

Step 2

Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring Task Manager.
Click on New Task and type appwiz.cpl and click OK
This will re-run add/remove programs.
Remove/Uninstall all new program you installed before having this problem, Also remove the Windows XP Hotfix
Restart your PC.
The access to the taskbar , icons will all come back and Install a new Antivirus.

Step 3
If None of the above steps work, try a System Restore to previous date

Click START - All Programs - ACCSESSORIES - System Tool - System Restore
Choose the date before the system started giving trouble. ( The Date will be in bold ( highlighted ) which indicates the system can be restored to that date with all the settings on that date )

*Note : Doing system restore will uninstall any software/program you have installed from the date you choose the system restore till current date, However it will not delete any files created )

Hope this is helpful.

My icon on my desktop is missing but all can be seen from the window, how to restore it back on desktop

Which icon are you missing? If the program shows up when you go through the "Start and All Programs" you should be able to just right click the program that you want on the desktop and select "Send To" and then choose "Desktop (create shortcut)" and your done.

IE icon missing in tray on left - (XP IE7 Sony Viao)

Right click on the taskbar at the bottom. Under the "toolbars" item, be sure the "quicklaunch" toolbar is checked. That will restore the shortcut to the taskbar.
If your quicklaunch toolbar is checked and no IE icon is there, just drag the shortcut from your desktop to the taskbar and it will be there for you.
