Starts with LOAD when I put a dvd to play and comes with NO DISK FOUND....

  • rsands22 Feb 20, 2009

When I put in any DVD it reads load, I hear the disk searching, finally it says no disk. Once in a while it will play a DVD, I thought the answer was slapping/jarring the unit, I did this once and it played the DVD, but it wasn't a consistent fix. When it played the DVD, it kept stopping, pausing, then playing. The video when playing was excellent. The lens has been cleaned. The unit will play CD's with no problem. Any help will be appreciated, ah that is, beside junking the unit.

You need to repair the power supply.Need to change the 2200 mF and 1000mf capacitors with a higher voltage either 25 or 35 Volts. And for beeter results to install a small CPU fan with holes to vet the warm air from the power supply.
Good Luck! Any more info needed let me know!

How do I get the disc drive of a dvd recorder to open after getting out the disc and resetting the machine?

Go back through the release process you did the first time to remove the stuck disk. it appears that part of the mechanism that moves the drive did not engage again.

Dvd door will not open

with the unit turned off press and hold "8", and then press "x" on the unit until "unlocked" appears on the screen.

This is from page 83 of the manual regarding tray lock feature.

Long loading time, then readout says, bad disc.

The lazer beam of the disc has a micro dust that need to remove. You can try to use the cd cleaner. If nothing happen , you need to open the disc and spray the lenses with soft air.

Sony 5 disc dvd player - discs lock in - spinner needs push to go

You can spray WD-40 contact cleaner but very little amount in spindle motor (you call it spinner) and please take care, DO NOT spray over optical lens which is so close to spindle motor.

If problem still exist, you need to replace optical lens assembly and I will provide you part number if required.
Good Luck.

Yes, I'm having the exact same problem -- I can't eject the dvd that's in the player right now either manually or remotely. It plays fine.
