Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

My new Canon Mp495 won't let me Scan. I do not have a CD rom drive on my work laptop that I have installed it with, so I used downloads from the canon website to get the necessary drivers. I have gone through and got all the drivers that are relevant to my Windows 7 OS, but still the scan function does not appear on my solution menu and I get the error sign on the printer when I try to scan a document. I have also downloaded the Easy Web print EX and I can't find this anywhere either. I have tried most things twice, so I am getting very frustruated ! Please help and keep it simple. Thankyou

    Hi DrifterK,

Thankyou for your response. Unfortunately, after downloading Solution Menu EX ver 1.1.0 and MP495 Series MP Driver Ver 1.02, both for Windows 7, there has been some extra things added to the solution menu (Canon Web Service and Information) but still no sign of the Scanner. I have downloaded so many things now and It is not doing much good. I have hopefully attached an image of the screen of my downloads. Any other ideas? I even tried to copy the CD rom onto my external hard drive using another computer then used that on my work computer, but as I don't have administrator access and won't have till the end of January, I was short circuited there too. Arrrggggh!

    Thankyou

it seams that the lack f proper driver might be the issue after all...Probably the downloaded driver is installing the communication one ..but not the scanner software for operating i t..and this is the issue that it will not appear on the manager I found on the support site ..
It seams that the only solution is its original cd ..and to run it ..you may copy it in another computer and transfer it somehow ...by a instant messaging software ..or use a memory stick

Uninstall and Reinstall the Driver If the MP Navigator or the MP drivers are no longer required, or if they are not installed correctly, uninstall them. Caution: Uninstalling means deleting software, such as MP drivers, from the computer. Once the software has been deleted the unit cannot be used through the computer until the software has been reinstalled.
Note: Login as a user with Administrator privileges to uninstall on Windows 7 / Windows Vista/ Windows XP. Turn off any programs running in the background, such as antivirus programs and firewalls before begining.

  1. Start the uninstaller
    • If you are using Windows 7 / Windows Vista, select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.
    • If you are using Windows XP, select the Start menu -> All Programs -> "Your model name" -> MP Drivers Uninstaller.

The MP Drivers Uninstaller dialog box is displayed.

      Important:
In Windows 7 or Windows Vista, a confirmation / warning dialog box may appear when starting, installing or uninstalling software.
This dialog box appears when administrative rights are required to perform a task.
When you are logged on to an administrator account, click Yes (or Continue, Allow) to continue.
Some applications require an administrator account to continue. When you are logged on to a standard account, switch to an administrator account, and restart the operation from the beginning.

  2. Execute the uninstaller
    1. Click Execute.
    2. When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.

  3. When all the files have been deleted, click Complete.
The deletion of the MP Drivers is complete.

Important: Printer driver and scanner driver (ScanGear) will be deleted when you uninstall the MP Drivers.

- When There is No Uninstaller
When there is no uninstaller in the Start menu of Windows 7 or Windows Vista, follow these steps:
  1. Select the printer to be deleted.
    • If you are using Windows 7, select the Start menu -> Devices and Printers.
Click the model to delete, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. On the File menu, click Remove device.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, select the Start menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Printers.
Click the model to delete, then press the Alt key on your keyboard. On the File menu, click Delete.

  2. Delete the printer.
    • If you are using Windows 7, when the confirmation message appears, click Yes. Then when the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes.
      The icon is deleted.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, when the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue. Then when the confirmation message appears, click Yes.
      The icon is deleted.

  3. Select the printer driver to be deleted
    • If you are using Windows 7, click any icon in Printers and Faxes.

On the command bar, click Print server properties, and then click the Drivers tab. If the Change Driver Settings button is displayed, click that button.
When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Yes.
In the Installed printer drivers list, click the printer to delete.
    • If you are using Windows Vista, press the Alt key. On the File menu, select Run as administrator, and then click Server Properties.
When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue.
Click the Drivers tab. In the Installed printer drivers list, click the printer to delete.

  4. Delete the printer driver.

When you click Remove, Remove Driver And Package dialog box is displayed.
Select Remove driver and driver package, and then click OK.
In the confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
When data collection is completed in the Remove Driver Package dialog box, click Delete.

  5. Click OK.
The deletion of the printer driver is complete.

Important: You may not be able to delete the printer driver properly from the Installed printer drivers list.
If this happens, restart your computer, and then try again.

  6. Reinstall the drivers.

Reinstall the Drivers
Note:
  • The MP drivers can be installed using Easy Install or Custom Install.
Easy Install automatically installs the software which is in the CD-ROM.
This method is recommended for first-time users.
Custom Install allows you to select the software programs from MP Drivers, Application Software, and On-screen Manual.
  • Login as a user with Administrator privileges to install on WindowsXP/2000/Vista.
  • Close any antivirus software that may be running prior to installing the drivers.

Maybe try to install using an external DVD ROM drive available for $40, $50, $60 or so from Walmart, depending on which one you're near, seeing that you do not have a cd-rom drive connected to your laptop or computer.

Where can I install the PIXMA MP495 CD-Rom as my laptop does not support CD-ROM's?

You can download everything off of the CD from Cannon's website. Click here to go to their website, go about halfway down the page until you find a button labeled "Drivers & Software" click on that and it will ask you what operating system you have. Just select which operating system you have from the menu. Once you select what operating system you have, click "Drivers" and hit download next to the first option.

Why can't I download my CANO SCAN set up CD-Rom on to my new Windows 7

The CD-ROM has the installers for older versions of Windows. The installation routines for the newer versions of Windows have changed considerably from those that were in use when the CD was written. You can get the drivers and Canon Toolbox software for the scanner from Canon: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide25#DriversAndSoftware . Select Windows 7 in the dropdown menu. The software will work with any version of Windows 7.

The only exception is that the third-party software is not available for downloads. If you want to use the original CD software (assuming the disc is undamaged) and you have Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, you can download and install Virtual PC and XP mode for a free XP virtual computer. Then install the scanner to the "XP computer" as you normally would. However, the virtual computer and the Win7 computer cannot both have the hardware installed simultaneously. So to share files, you may need to save them to external media (optical or hard drive). If you have one of the other versions of Windows 7, you can do the same thing with any virtual PC program and a licensed older version of Windows.

I hope this helps.

I need to download the software/Canon Pixma MP 240 series printer

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=2610&modelid=17161#DownloadDetailAct

go to this site and put in your operating system and you will get the drivers you require. I would uninstall the all of the older drivers reboot then install the new drivers. Remember not to connect your print to your computer until the new installing driver tell you to.
Hope this does the trick for you, good luck. Please leave a rating, thank you kindly
