Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My printer stopped printing, i have power but on the screen of the printer it states no connection to computer. i changed the usb cable and thought i would reinstall the printer but i can not find the cd i need for windows to install. is there another way to reinstall the printer without the cd? thank you bonsai2@localnet.com

My mp610 no longer prints email documents, but will still print satisfactory colour pictures (Photos). Both black cartridges have been replaced with new. Could this be software or a printer fault?


this is software problem! you did not state what operating system you use this museum quality printer, as my telepathic powers somehow vane... anyway they work only in hollywood flicks... just generic advise:



open any office document and try to print - if it did not, or print garbage - but still print photos - definitely software problem, which can be exacerbated by printer connection or interface



suggesting hot water - IT PRINT PHOTOS! this meant that this is not physical printhead problem but SOFTWARE INTERFACE! pls do not listen to airheads...



now, procedure:

1. remove all cables from the printer including cable connecting to the computer

2. reconnect all cables to the printer except computer

3. try print any photo - printed? printer is ok, maybe cable - interface or computer itself...

4. while computer is on, and printer is on - connect computer to the printer via usb cable (even if you have it on wireless! disable it for the moment), did computer detected it? can you print test page? if yes and yes - you just solved the problem and computer rectified it



if not:

1. disable wireless (if present) and disconnect physical cable from computer

2. uninstall drivers pertaining to the printer

3. go to http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp610#DriversAndSoftware

and download drivers correct for your printer and operating system (remember the bit which you did not tell on the beginning?)

4. after download - start installation, when prompted, connect usb cable to the printer and the computer

5. print test page - printed correctly? solved the problem... if not, then error will be on ingress port of the printer, or cable or egress port of your computer, you cannot eliminate error on the printer but:



change the cable and change the port on the computer to that which you know is working, for example port where your mouse is connected.



if still no joy - use this printer as local for your photos and buy cheap laser with very, very cheap laser cartridges...

Printer doesn't respond via USB only WiFi


As my helper partner states, I quite agree but I would also use a different USB which the one you're using might be damaged, use another USB station cause maybe its also damaged. But if it states that the printer is offline...it will never print because its not selected as your active Printer. Actually you are sending the printing jobs to that printer wich is not active or recognized.

My brother mfc-290c printer will not print. I install new cartridges. I have tried to find the drivers online but when I download it its says its "Binary File" and it wont open. I also got a copy...


Open your Control Panel. Click on "Add/Remove Programs". Scan the list of programs in the "Add/Remove Programs" pop-up window for your Brother Printer, then uninstall ALL software that is affiliated with your printer. When you have uninstalled all the software, restart your computer. When your computer is restarted, click on this link:

When the link opens, in the first box, scroll down and select the Windows XP Professional x64 edition. In the next box, select your language. Then click on the "Search" button. It will open a new page...select the link in the first box that says "Download & Information". When it opens the next window...click on the "Download" button.
STEP 1: VERIFY THE CABLE CONNECTION
Remove the USB cable from both the computer and the Brother machine. Leave them unplugged for a few seconds, and then reseat the cable into both devices. Make sure the interface cable has a secure connection to both the Brother machine and your computer. Note: The USB port can be accessed by opening the scanner cover. The correct port is labeled with the word USB and a symbol that looks like a pitchfork with dots on the ends. Ensure that the cable is not in the adjacent network port (For applicable models).
Note: Brother recommends you use a type A/B 1.1 or 2.0 USB cable that is 6 feet (2 meters) or less, directly connected from the Brother machine to an available port on your computer. Other cable configurations may work, however connection loss is common. For troubleshooting purposes, do not connect your interface cable through any hubs, splitters, or other pass-through devices.

STEP 2: VERIFY THE BROTHER MACHINE IS POWERED ON AND THERE ARE NO ERRORS
A. If the LCD screen is blank, then the Brother machine is not powered on. Verify that it is plugged into a working outlet and any power switches are turned to the ON position.
B. Check the LCD screen for any error messages. An example would be Paper Jam or Ink/Toner Empty. If the LCD screen shows an error, troubleshoot to clear the particular problem.

STEP 3: VERIFY THAT THE PRINTER DRIVER IS INSTALLED
A. On the computer Click START -> RUN (or VISTA users click WINDOWS/START and click inside the Start Search field)
B. Type: CONTROL PRINTERS and press ENTER.
C. Verify that the Brother printer in the list. If the Brother printer is listed, continue to STEP 4. If the Brother printer is not listed, the driver may not be installed properly. Refer to STEP 9 to reinstall the Brother driver.

STEP 4: VERIFY THAT THE BROTHER PRINTER IS SET AS DEFAULT
This is especially important if you use the print icon to print from within applications. If the Brother printer is set as the default printer, it will have a check mark on the icon. If it is not set as default:
While in the Printer folder, set your Brother machine as the default printer by RIGHT CLICKING on the Brother printer and selecting SET AS DEFAULT (PRINTER).

STEP 5: VERIFY THAT THE PRINTER STATUS IS READY AND THE PRINT QUEUE IS EMPTY
A. Click on START -> RUN (or VISTA users click WINDOWS/START and click inside the Start Search field)
B. Type: CONTROL PRINTERS and press ENTER.
C. Locate the Brother printer in the list and hover your mouse over the Brother printer icon. Below is an example of what you may see:
(Printer) Status: Ready (Could also state: OFFLINE or PAUSED)
Documents: 0 (Could be any number)
D. If there are any documents waiting in the queue, right-click on the Brother printer and select CANCEL ALL DOCUMENTS. This should clear the queue.
E. If the status states: USE PRINTER OFFLINE, right-click on the Brother printer and uncheck USE PRINTER OFFLINE or select USE PRINTER ONLINE depending on your operating system. This should set the printer driver ONLINE.
F. If the status states: PAUSED, right-click on the Brother printer and uncheck PAUSE PRINTING or select RESUME PRINTING. This should allow the printer to resume printing.

STEP 6: ATTEMPT A TEST PRINT
A. Right-click on your Brother driver and select PROPERTIES.
B. On the GENERAL TAB, click the PRINT TEST PAGE button. If the test page prints, then your issue is resolved. If the test page does not print, close the PRINTER PROPERTIES window and delete the job from the queue by completing STEP 5, then continue to STEP 7.

STEP 7: VERIFY PRINTER PORT SETTINGS
A. Locate the Brother printer in the list. Right click the printer and left click PROPERTIES.
B. Click on the PORTS TAB of DETAILS TAB (depending on your operating system) and verify the port your machine is set for. The port should be USB00x. (x is a number).
C. If the port is set correctly and no other ports are available to choose from, no changes will be made. Continue to STEP 8.
D. If you changed ports, try printing a test page by completing STEP 6. If the test page prints, then your issue is resolved. If there are multiple USB virtual ports, try the different available ports. For any failed print jobs, close the PRINTER PROPERTIES window and delete the job from the queue by completing STEP 5, then continue to STEP 8. If there are multiple USB virtual ports, try the different available ports.

STEP 8: CYCLE THE POWER TO THE BROTHER MACHINE.
A. Turn off the power to the Brother machine by disconnecting it from the power source.
B. Wait about 30 seconds and power the machine back on.
C. Try printing a test page by completing STEP 6. If the test page prints, then your issue is resolved. For any failed print jobs, close the PRINTER PROPERTIES window and delete the job from the queue by completing STEP 5, then continue to STEP 9.

STEP 9: REINSTALL THE BROTHER DRIVERS
Please close all applications before running the Repair MFL-Pro Suite.
A. The machine must be turned ON and the interface cable must be connected from the Brother machine to your computer.
B. Turn on your computer. Note: you must be logged on with Administrator rights.
C. Insert the supplied CD-ROM for Windows into your CD-ROM drive. If the language screen appears, select your language. If you are not prompted with the language screen, go to (MY) COMPUTER, then double click on the MFL-PRO icon.
D. The CD-ROM main menu will appear. Click ADVANCED.
E. Click on REPAIR MFL-PRO SUITE.
F. When the software prompts to turn off machine and disconnect the USB connection, do so then click YES.
G. When the Brother MFL-Pro Suite Software License Agreement window appears, click YES if you agree to the Software License Agreement.
H. Choose STANDARD or LOCAL CONNECTION and then click NEXT.
I. When the Connect the Machine screen appears, connect the USB cable from the Brother machine to the computer.
Note: DO NOT connect the machine to a USB port on a keyboard or a non-powered USB hub. Brother recommends that you connect the machine directly to your computer. It is recommended that you use a type A/B USB 1.1 or 2.0 cable, 6 feet or less.
Lift the scanner cover into the open position.
Connect the USB cable to the USB socket. You will find the USB socket inside the machine on the left if viewing from the front of the machine. If your machine is also network-capable, ensure that the cable is NOT connected into the network port.
Carefully route the USB cable through the trench and out the back of the machine and connect to your computer. Make sure the cable does restrict the cover from closing or an error may occur.Gently close the scanner cover using the finger holds on both sides.J. Turn on the power to the Brother machine by connecting the power cord. The installation should automatically continue.The installation screens appear one after another. Please wait. It will take a few seconds for all the screens to appear. DO NOT try to cancel any of the screens during this installation.continue the installation.M. When prompted to restart the computer, select YES, I WANT TO RESTART MY COMPUTER NOW, and click FINISH.

If i try to print, it says printer offline. it's turned on and plugged in, why can't i print from my computer? windows 7 if that helps with instructions


How are you connected to the printer? Is it a direct USB connection or a USB hub or print server?

If you are using a USB hub or print server, try a direct USB connection. (A cord of 6 feet in length or shorter is preferred.) Try a different USB port and a different cable. Make sure that both ends of the cable are well-seated. Next make sure that a known working USB device properly connects to the computer.

Next check if the USB ports are disabled due to errors, for security or power-savings. For the first check the device manager. Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager. Scroll down for the USB devices. If you see a red x or a yellow exclamation point in a triangle, try updating the drivers or enabling the USB devices. The third item is an advanced setting that you can access by right clicking on the desktop (anywhere there are no running programs or icons). Select Personalize > Screen Saver, next select change power settings. Then click the link to the Change the Plan settings. Then click the Change Advanced Power Settings link. Scroll down and check for when USB devices power down and adjust this setting.

If the above do not work, try uninstalling the printer, then remove the data cable. Reboot the computer and reinstall the printer from the CD or downloaded file from Canon. Connect the USB cable when prompted to do so.

My Canon Pixma IP 2200 Inkjet Photo Printer won't respond to any printing commands. It is installed in my programmes. I have tried troubleshooting re setting but it still won't work.


Bottom right of your computer screen where your speaker icon would be? Is there a printer icon?
Printers will buffer (collect) till they can be printed. even if you shut down your computer and restart, these buffered print ques may not leave - printer traffic stops on this first print in the Que.
Right mouse click this printer icon and open all active printers. if there is more then one in this buffer, then select all of these and cancel them..

If this doesn't help and your USB and power cables are connected then unplug your USB cable and wait about 10 seconds and then reinsert your usb cable - see if your computer responds by indicating your printer has been identified. And try printing then.

Printer not Printing


well this is the software issue till i can understand. to be sure that it is purely software issue try to copy from your printer itself and see if that is not the printer's fault.

if its not then:

Remove printer's USB cable from your computer

delete the Printer's Icon from your control panel/ system preferences> Printers and faxes/ printers

now uninstall the software of kodak and reinstall the the software from www.kodak.com/go/esp3downloads

after software installs then plug your printer back in and wait untill it get installed on your system

try to print it again and see if you can print

I have connected d145 printer to my new dell laptop with Windows 7 but although installed as default printer it won't print


Do you have files in the queue? What is the printer status in Devices and Printers area?

Since this is a USB printer, my usual trouble-shooting starts with checking the USB connectivity. If you are using a hub, try connecting directly to the printer. Change to a new USB cable and try a different port. Check if a known working device will work in the port. Make sure the ports are not disabled for power-savings or security (power savings is adjusted as an advanced option in the same area as setting the Screen Saver, Security shut downs are in the Device Manager).

Frequently, you can reset the printer by unplugging the USB cable from both the computer and the printer and pulling the power cord for a minute. If the items in the print queue cannot be deleted from the queue, use the Command Prompt (run as administrator by a right click - Start, All Programs, Accessories) to empty the queue. Once in the command prompt, type "net stop spooler" without the quotes and then hit <enter>. Then type "net start spooler" (again without the quotes) and hit <enter>. Once the commands have been processed, reboot the computer.

There could be a Software issue or hardware issue --
1) To check the software issue
Print a Test Page -- from the computer
2) To check the hardware
Press the Power button to turn the product on.
Press and hold the Power button
Open and close the front cover four times.
Release the Power button. The self-test will print
and it it is printing the hardware is fine ...
3) Then you can check by changing the USB Cable connection

Ricoh CL2000 Printer Problems


If you are printing PDF files, that could cuase this problem. Otherwise, if your getting the issue from two different computers its possably a fualt with the Printer.
If it is a printer fualt, there proberly isnt alot you can do with this issue. You may be able to update the firmware.
