Question about Projection Televisions

My remote is inconsistent--both shutting down and starting. It is particularly difficult when switching from TV to DVD/CD. I bought the remote on recommendations from Circuit City and twice had assistance in setting up although it seems more troublesome now than earlier after installation. Last installation was bymy computer but conducted by a firedog. Although these remotes are able to handle many devices I wonder if ,when reset, that leaving the satellite out of the equation (Left ON like we used to with the old system) would simplify the problem? Thank you in advane--Lloyd Hetherington -Gold Canyon, AZ 85218 PS The remote was urchased Jan/08

Check the battery to be sure it is installed properly.Point the remote control at the Interface module. Relocate the Interface module, making sure it is in a clear line of sight to the remote and there are no obstructions. Make sure the protective film is removed from the lens on the front of the Interface module. Check that the source button on the remote blinks when a button is pressed. Check that the green LED on the Interface module blinks off briefly when a remote button is pressed.

Hope this helps

Many times when a remote has difficulty turning the devices on and off, or a few buttons aren't working like they used to, the remote is simply wearing out. The most commonly used buttons are the first to go, and the optical eye is another thing that goes. If reprogramming doesn't seem to fix the problem, then it may be time for a new remote.

That switch controls the ballast, so if the ballast is bad, the error could be for the switch circuit, they are one and the same. Check the ballast.

Switch mode power supplies are sensitive to power levels. At this point there is a problem in the power supply. Most likely a number of capacitors have become defective. Without seeing the set and taking measurements inside, it will be difficult to determine the exact fault. I would suggest that you get a detailed repair estimate from a local repair shop. Post the results here and we should be able to guide you through the actual repair.

Keep us posted.

If the TV gets very hot it maybe shutting down on its own accord however there should be a way to navigate to the sleep menu through the buttons on the front of the set.

Trouble changing device

Your problem may be solved by re-initializing the set. With the tv on use the remote and push MENU,2,1,7,0. A display will come up. Use the up down arrows on the remote to select INITIAL and press the enter key on the remote. That should do it.

Zenith E44W46LCD 44 in. Rear Projection (Wont Turn on)

I bought an open box unit at Best Buy, it had no remote or manual. Go to http://www.zenithservice.com/, click on owner's manuals, answer the 4 questions using drop down menus and then you can download an owner's manual and save it to your computer/burn it to a CD/print it out. If you choose to print it out, beware, the manual is 60 pages. One of the 4 questions they ask is "Product", choose Projection TV, not LCD TV. The 4th question is "Model Number", mine is E44W46LCD, is guess everyone's here is the same, duh.
For the remote, I looked in the phone book for an authorized Zenith TV repair company. I called them and gave the model number and paid over the phone. I had the remote shipped to my home address. The total including tax and shipping was $50. The remote they sent is a large Zenith mulit-function #6710v00102k. I don't know if that is the remote that would have came with the TV, it worked without having to program it first. It can control TV/VCR/Cable/DVD/Sat. I t has controls for 6 inputs, SAP, mute, Surf, Video, Picture in Picture, Ratio (16:9, 4:3, Zoom, etc), CC, Freeze, Menu, and controls for DVD and VCR (rewind, play, etc). If you can't find a place in your area to get the remote, Email me at gregg@hillscabinet.com and I'll look up where I got mine from. It came from Palm Desert, CA.
I don't know about your TV not coming on, is it plugged in? If it is, that's about all I've got. Gregg
