I have a Brother Industrial sinhgle needle straight stitch. The upper thread keeps breaking but the stitches are beautiful. It doesn't appear to be tension. if it was the the tension, wouldn't the stitches be inconsistent. Machine also goes way to fast. hard to regulate the speed

Check the hook for burrs, nicks or rough spots. If you find any, they need to be removed with a sharpening stone or emery stick. Buff it with a fine emery cloth until it is smooth .
Check the needle. The long grove goes to the left.

Top thread keeps breaking

Upper thread breaking is usually a sign of incorrect threading or tension too tight, although there are other possible problems:

When threading the upper thread, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot so the thread will seat properly in the tension disks. Avoid old thread or bargain bin thread. If the thread is fraying and breaking at or near the needle eye, then try a different type of needle with a larger thread groove that will protect the thread from fraying on rough fabric. Also, check that the thread is not hanging up on something, ie the slit on the side of the spool where the thread tail is stored.

Have a DDL-555 bought used. The thread bunches up on bottom.

thread loops on the bottom is a sign that it isn't threaded correctly or the tension isn't set right.

Industrial machines tend to do some strange threading procedures. Are you sure you have it threaded correctly? Two of the machines I've had required that I do a 360 around one of the tension discs. I would start there.

Also some industrial sewing thread is waxed and that wax can cause you issues in between the tension discs. Raise the presser foot and take a piece of sturdy material like canvas or denim and "floss" between those discs. It will help remove wax build up that could be keeping your tension discs from working properly.

The top thread keeps breaking. The thread pulls tight and breaks. I have removed a broken thread piece from the upper take-up lever, rethreaded (several times), cleaned out bobbin, moved thread spool on...

try a tension a 3 to 5 on the top tension
try changing to a needle or if it's a new needle make sure the flat side of the needle faces the back of the machine and pushed all the way up into the needle holder
make sure the needle & thread are correct for each other, if the needle is to thin or to heavy for the fabric it will not work

My brother sewing machine keeps un-threading. I have checked the bobbin and took the thread all the way out and re-threaded it. What else can I do?

Make sure you are using the right needle for the application. Also check that your needle isn't damaged, bent or put in backwards. Sometimes a needle will have a burr on the eye, just sharp enough to break the thread. So always buy quality needles. Check your tension too.

How to thread a brother db2b737 industrial sewing machine

Hi. I just hate it when the thread keeps breaking and I can't figure out why! Brother makes it easy to get replacement manuals for their machines: http://www.brother-usa.com/Support/, then scroll down to Manuals and Documentation.

Besides not having the machine threaded correctly, some other things that can cause the thread to break are:

Upper tension is too tight
Wrong type of needle for the thread you're using (like trying to use metallic thread with a universal needle)
A burr or snag on the needle plate or bobbin hook

Please let me know if this helps, ok?

Thanks!

NEEDLE KEEPS COMING UNTHREADED WILL NOT CATCH IN FABRIC

Make sure you are threading the machine correctly and it has the proper tension. Also check the bobbin the thread has to go thru the little lash

I am having trouble threading my singer industrial sewing machine I can't remember how

all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.Your Industrial machine has a long groove on one side of the needle. This long groove must be on the left side of the needle when it is inserted properly.
