If it is like the picture next to your question-- this is a reflectro style telescope on an equatorial mount. The mount must be polar aligned in order to be used.

See this:
http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=3050

And read my equatorial mount TIP on my profile page.

How do I adjust the Mars-eye elec. finder.

Contact Galileo telescopes here for help:
http://www.galileosplace.com/

Assuming the batteries are OK, there should be adjustment screws on the finder for moving the red dot around.

Focus the telescope on a distant object, then without moving the scope adjust the dot on the same distant object.

Telescope will not focus. It seems like the focus adjuster won't go in far enough.

Some reflectors like yours cannot be used with certain eyepieces because of a lack of in-focus adjustment.

The finderscope for the Bushnel 78-9930 telescope will not align w/ the telescope. The Azimuth adjustment knob bottoms out before the alignment is achieved. Everything is molded one piece. Besides the...

Obviously the mounting for the finderscope is NOT parallel with the tube-- probably the screw holes were not drilled correctly.

This is one of the reasons why we never recommend Tasco or Bushnell telescopes. They are considered "toy" telescopes and most of them are not suitable for Astronomy.

Return it and buy one of these:

OR re-drill the holes so the finder scope is more parallel with the main tube.

Something inside the telescope broke. adjustment knobs are broken

Another "happy" Bushnell scope buyer. Never by a Tasco or Bushnell telescope. These are considered "toy" telescopes and are usually NOT suitable for Astronomy.

Read my tips on my profile page, or return the telescope to where you bought it.

Rear mirror

I may be telling you something you already know, but just in case.

If your telescope is a newtonian/dobsonian (i.e., long, large tube) then the mirror in the bottom can be adjusted to collimate or align properly.

On the other hand, if the top of the telescope has glass over it (refractor telescope) then putting it back into place will be more labor intensive and I wouldnt even try it. Try going to the manufacturers website and asking them. You might post the same question on a telescope forum called cloudynights.com. If you live in a large city, try searching for local astronomy clubs as every astronomy club has some guy there who takes these things apart for no reason just to put them back together.
