Question about Computers & Internet

A year ago, I bought a new computer; I did not know that the word-processing program had an expiration date. Isn't there a free or low cast word processing program? The manufacturer wants me to buy one for hundreds of dollars.

Where do i find the expiration date on a can of off deep woods spray. I have 2 cans and they both appear new. not sure which one i bought first

There is no expiration date on the product. There is a code on the bottle and if you call SC Johnson at 1-800-494-4855 they will tell you when it was manufactured. They say it has a shelf life of 3 years.

Find spare and repair manual for intrepid wood stove

Alex, I don't know how old your Vermont Castings Intrepid wood stove is, but the only available Owner's Manual is for their fairly new model Intrepid II wood stove.

A little quick history. Vermont Castings was an independent company 10 years ago, that was bought up by Majestic (FMC) Fireplace Company of Canada. About 5 years ago, Majestic went belly up and the VC line was purchased by Monesson Hearth Products. There have been some improvements to their wood stoves in the past couple of years, so as to meet the new EPA Requirements. So, this manual may show some things your stove doesn't have.

Hope this helps you. Please let me know. Thanks.

I ordered and paid for Limewire which I was unable to down load onto my computer. I would like to know if I can get a refund or what I can do to get the item I paid for, 8008600083 is the refrence number...

Limewire was closed down months ago. Call your credit card company,, immediately and ask for the fraud department. Also, run your virus scanner, if you attempted to connect to the limewire web-site. Then download this Malicious Software Removal Program from microsoft.com (it's free).
  1. If your Virus Scan Program is out dated, delete it from <Start>, <Control Panel>, Make sure Top Right Corner is set to Category (if Vista or Windows 7). In XP Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Then under programs Select Un-install a Program. Choose your expired Virus Scan Program.
  3. Then Download This: Microsoft Security Essentials (also free) and run in Full Scan Mode.

On norton protection center i get fix protection up dates 0n fix on doing all required the problem is not solved the same applies tospyware definitions i end up with protection updates out of date

Your Norton that you bought in 2005 has expired.
Normally, the anti virus protection, you buy, will have an expiration of 1 year or 2 years. It will only have more, if you have purchased the license for more. If not, that is why your Norton is out ot date. Expired 2006!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND NORTON
Some useful information below. Hope it helps.

SPEAKING WITH MY EXPERIENCE TRY SOMETHING ELSE.

FREE SPYWARE
Download Spybot Search & Destroy. Restart computer, then run Spybot to see what spyware comes up, AND DELET IT.

FYI---Virus Protection-- 2 programs of virus protection will conflict with each other and will actually cancel out the protection. SO just download one.

Running Spybot Search & Destroy with EITHER Avast or Avg (great Free virus protection programs ) will keep a computer in good working condition. FREE

Replaced black ink cartridge, but the computer continues to say I need to change the cartridge. How to fix?

Hi,
The issue you are facing is that the cartridges this printer use have an encoded "expiration date".

This date is ~3 years from manufacturing. If you just bought this genuine HP supplies you should be entitled for a "free" replacement from where you bought them.
As it’s ~3 years from manufacturing, this should reflect very poor inventory management practices from the place you bought it from …

If these are refilled supplies, you should still be able to contact the brand of the refilled product and claim the supplies you just bought had "expired" chips.

Sadly this "exired" signal can't be override :(

Sorry,
Ed

Purchased product and extended download service (knew my old computer was about to die) got new computer and it offered me free Norton, so I accepted that thinking I could put in my proper Norton later on,...

Most Software is not Transferable which makes it hard at times. The Free Trail you accepted from Norton does and will Expire on that date. The only way your going to get a Full Version on your new Computer is to Purchase a new License. I know it does not seam fair, but these large companies just go by the rules.

Change all ink message

Your Lexmark cartridges may be like my HP ones--they have a chip that the machine reads so they cannot be reused without doing some tricks to fool the printer.

My HP remembers the last 2 or 3 cartridges and also will not use ones that have passed the expiration date that is stamped on the cartridge. I'll tell you what worked for my HP.

Check the date on your ink cartridge.  I bet it has expired. If you put in a "new"cartridge but it is even an HP one with an older date, it may not work.
I had my printer stop in the middle of a print job.  It was printing fine and suddenly would not print.  So I refilled the cartridge with an ink kit I had on hand and reinserted it--no go!  Then I opened a remanufactured cartridge I had bought some time ago and inserted it.  No go, despite the fact I could see ink coming from the jets.  I finally gave up and bought a new HP ink cartridge, and it worked just fine.  But it bugged me why the new one would work and the other two that seemed just fine would not.

Later I learned that HP has a chip that reads the expiration date on the cartridges and that is what keeps those old ones from printing.  I found one trick of setting my date on my computer back to a year earlier than the exp date on the cartridge.  I saw the date on the remanufactured one I had tried earlier was 2005, so I set my computer date to today date but year 2004.  After forcing me to do print alignments several times and take the remanufactured cartridge out and put it back, I got it to print just fine.  And that 2005 cartridge that would not work earlier is what I am printing with right now.
Be advised, though, if you try the date setback, that HP printer will buck and try every way to not let you use that old cartridge.  You must say no to reflashing if HP tries to pull that on you.  And you will take out and put back that same cartridge multiple times and keep printing alignment sheets 3 or 4 times before you are successful.  But, if you persist, you can get it to work.
