I'm not famlier with that heater but conversons are simply changing spring in regulator and changing main burner orfice.look at gas valve to tell if regulator comes apart.sometimes there one piece .check with Granger for kit.probably about $30

What parts do I need to convert a Dayton model 3E839 shop heater from NG to Propane?

I would contact grainger industrial suuply at www,grainger.com/dayton heaterparts. They are the main distributor of dayton parts and if you have your model number and serial number they can get you the proper kit to convert.Make sure you specify that you are wanting to go from N.G. to L.P.. Thank you. This is a good company. I have dealt with them for years and they have nice knowledgeable people usually have what you need and ship promptly.Check with them to see if they have a distributer close to you and you can go pick it up yourself. Thanks again.

Can you sucessfully convert a Dayton Model 3E368C,

The orifices have to be made smaller for propane. You have to go 10 drill bit sizes smaller. Also the air gap on them burners has to be tweaked. Primary air is added to the lp at the orifice. The gas/air mix has to be close or the nasty yellow smutty stuff happens. The gas valve needs to be set for LP gas pressure and the pilot orifices need to be changed. Nothing to it old man.

Hi,
Call this number 1-800-323-0620 That is the Grainger Parts line. The Dayton units are all made for Grainger.
They will be able to tell you (1) if the unit can be converted.
(2) If the parts are available to convert that unit.
(3) You will also be able to order the parts directly from them if they are available.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

I've got a Dayton 3E369 Unit heater. The electric

Sounds like it has a bad fan switch wich is no more than a small circular bi-metal switch that expands when heated closing a switch. Get a parts breakdown off the net. I am sure you could find the switch in your area and replace it yourself.
