If you have the original remote, then press CCD button to toggle various modes. One of the states is CCD off. IT sounds like a software bug to me more than anything else. Also are you sure that its the closed caption? can you take a picture of the screen and upload it to, then get me the direct link?

Ok. What is the input source for the tv. If its a set-top box then try to reset it. Closed caption can also be set the at the input source. If its anything else let me know.
As for the picture, I asked for the picture of the screen with the tv on and closed caption displaying. This is because there are certain problems on LCDs that resemble the closed caption issue, such as bands on the screen caused by a malfunctioning LCD controller.

Keep in mind if using a box it also likely has closed captions feature.

In both set and or box in the menu find Captions--turn off or to one of the other options except TEXT---most sets use CC1 as default and some also offer captions when sound is muted or not.

Look first on remote for captions, usually someone hits the button by mistake either for the box or the set--you may have to check both units to find it.

JVC model AV-32750..... The close caption feature is toggled on and a large black square is blocking picture. I have no remote to enter the menu settings so using buttons on bottom front. I am unable to...

just look in the section for closed captions----the box is the "text" feature and just needs to be turned off; if you did it without a remote it can be undone the same way.

I can't turn off closed captions please help

There is only one way, and that is to unlock the closed caption feature by entering the code. By entering the code you have set to lock closed caption you can set it off. If you have forgotten the password you have entered, do the folloing ot unlock your TV, and then reset all the features later.

if you ever forget your

code, the 0, 7, 1, 1 code is the factory

default and can be used to

enter and create a new access

After unlocking the code you have to reset all the settings again if you wants.

Closed captioning

I experienced the same problem for about an hour before recognizing that the "continuous on" closed captioning had been activated on my cable box, not the TV. The signal feeds through despite the CC settings on the TV. If you haven't already, try checking the CC settings on whatever device is supplying your video.
