I'm not a whiz at this stuff, but I've been trying to get songs off this darn thing for month. I just did it!! I am psyched!!! Plug mp3 into usb on tower. when portable device window pops up click on open device using windows explorer. double left click fixed storage. left double click music folder. To the right of the forward and backward arrows single left click on folders. To the left you'll see a list of artist. left click the artist you wish to delete and viola!!!! I sure hope this works for some of you, because I was ready a long time ago to return this to Best Buy and get something else. Good luck

The only way is to connect it to your pc and either go into my computers and your mp3 folder to delete it that way. The other way is when the music software comes up, you can delete the music from the mp3 player platform:()

SOURCE: music will not play from mp3
usually mp3 players comes with an installer because it has different software.... there are mp3s that can trasfer music from computers through copy and paste... but in your case, maybe that's not adviceable... try to look for an installer... if you dont mind, what's the brand of your mp3 player? maybe i can help you find software installer....

For Windows XPTM users, you are connecting the device in MTP mode to the computer by default. You will need to set the device to MSC mode, so go to the device menu\Settings\Advanced\Protocol = > Press Play/Pause key to select MSC mode which will appear as such on the screen. Reconnect the device to the computer, and you can now see those files and delete them.
DO NOT forget to set the device back to MTP mode when finished, so go to device menu\Setting\Advanced = > Select MTP mode.

Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,etc from MP3 Player
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
