Well if its lighting up, then the drive is receiving power, or the enclosure atleast. Forget that case, extract the drive, and seek out something more reliable and more solid. Preferably an aluminum enclosure with no fan.
I have the same drive... with mine it recognizes sometimes but usually freezes my computer when I try to write to the drive. I thought it was the actual hard drive, but that works fine when installed in my tower... I now notice that one of the small components, component L14, is actullay missing a corner!!!! Like it chipped off! I'm blaming that. It seems to be part of the usb/firewire section of the mainboard. I'd like to replace it... does anyone know what that component is?
