Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a front loading "Duet" washer that was purchased a year ago. It was washing and I don't know what cycle it is in, but it is flashing F-28 and the door won't open. I have tried everything like pushing the "end cycle" button the "cancel" button that the appliance book said and nothing happens. PLEASE HELP (it is next to impossible to get the requested repair man to come)

Unplug the machine

take the lower front panel off two screws, on the back of this panel or on a side panel should be a small plastic bag with tech support, when you find this it may have the definetions of the F28 code. proceed with diagnostics.

Check the water pump hose connections and the water pumps housing bolts themselves could have loosened from vibration. more likely the hose connections on the pump itself though. Hope this helps.

How long should a normal wash cycle take on the whirlpool duet?

One hour and 10 minutes is normal for your washer. All front load washers take a long time. They wash a lot better than top loaders. So to answer your question.. yes its normal.

Try this,

Whirlpool Duet- front Load washer

F 35 Does your machine use alot of water? The pressure switch has failed or the tube has a hole in it. If the machine is new and purchased at Sears it is under a warranty for defects for a year.

Whirlpool Duet Front Load

If you are using the recommended HE (High Efficiency) soap, you will not see alot of sudsing, this is normal. The washing action is very different than the top load machines. Excessive sudsing will cause issues with this machines operation.

Whirpool duet front load washer door trouble

I have stacked ours too, though after 5 years we have not had any issues with the pressure. I would suggest checking the screws holding the hinge in place as they may have loosened or been tightened with the door not properly lined up.
