Buy # 17 Black and #27 Color. Office Max and Inkspot stores carry their own brand which are a lillte cheaper than the Lexmark brand. I saw #17 cartridge at a Walmart neighood store that was only $21.00.

Cartridge failed,

Typical HP Printer Problem. Usually if you could buy replacement parts (HP Stopped selling them for all HP inkjet Printers) you could fix this. My recommendation is to buy a new "$40.00-$50.00" low cost printer Lexmark, Epson etc. and when the ink runs out Throw it away and buy a new one when you need to print again. I found that the low dollar printers print, by way far, better pictures, graphics and everything else. If you print a lot of text then a LaserJet Printer is best value. you can replace the Toner Cartridge and get 3000 pages per Cartridge. Buy a HP Laserjet if you do. everything else is not as durable. Thanks, Keith

I have purchased one CLP315 and now I want to refill the cartridges for the first time . What should I do?

The original toner cartridges are not fully loaded; they'll run out sooner than the replacement cartridges.
You can buy a remanufactured printer for around a hundred bucks with shipping, cheaper than buying a set of toner cartridges... It might be your best value...
This printer is essentially like an inkjet, the toner is more expensive than the printer itself, so you might just be better off buying another printer...

My MF8180C is asking to replace the K cartridge, and I have bought a 301 toner cartridge but the printer has a drum cartridge instead. How do I replace the black toner into the drum cartridge or do I have...

the toner crg is located in front of copier, the drum is separated from toner and it removes if you open upper cover.

If the copier ask you for toner open front cover and replace toner.

You do not have to replace drum if the copier doesnt tell you to replace.

Why are only black and yellow printing?

The printer has two ink-cartridges: black and tri-color.
The black cartridge has ink left.
The tri-color cartridge has run out of 2 of the 3 colours of ink.
Buy a replacement tri-color cartridge,
and responsibly recycle the "empty" cartridge.

A few basic causes.

1. The cartridges you bought were not original equipment ones (OEM)and many "clone" cartridges are known to have problems with the ink level chips

Take them back and get them replaced with a different brand

2. They are original cartridges but may still be faulty (rare but possible)

Take them back and get them replaced

3. Your print head is clogged or faulty

Run your printer through the head cleaning process a few times and see if it clears up.

4 your cartridges are out of alignment

run the cartridge alignment process

If you are filling them yourself then...

Cartridge ink levels are usually monitored by a small chip on the cartridge. If that cartridge is allowed to fall below 25% ink level most chips then become locked and not able to re-set.

For many cartridges you can buy a reset device to reset chips that have not become locked. Or you could buy empty cartridges that don't need resetting and that will always accept a self refill.

My printer's(Samsung CLP300 Color laser)smart panel says 'cyan empty replace the cartridge' even after refilling the cartridge. Not printing.

If you allowed your cartridge to run completely empty before refilling, the chip on the cartridge "knows" it is empty and will not allow it to be used. You can buy replacement chips for about $6.00 or so or buy third party cartridges for about $15. Your cartridge is not going to work until you get the chip replaced.

HP psc2175 remove and check cartridge

The ink cartridges are probably dried up inside.

I would try replacing them before tossing the printer.

Buy GENUINE HP carts.

Colour cartridge has run out and printer won't print.

Realy sorry but the only non new purchase option I have occsionaly found to work is to pull the colur cartridge and reinstal without using.'

Another one I've heard of and would definately not recoment is if you have an old recharge kit top the colour up with meths. My opinion of this is a great way to destroy your print head and cartridge.

Rewcharge kits containing all of your colours are inexpensive if a littlebit messy do it in the laundry or bathroom, over newspaper and preferably with a pair of gloves.

Kind Regards

I Got rough with the printer while trying to change the ink cartridges.

I would suggest running up to 9 cleaning cycles - 3 groups of 3 cleanings with a nozzle check after each group of three. If no change, then replacement would be your best solution. A good replacement would be the Stylus CX7400 for around $70
