Are you getting black screen? Still under warranty?
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

How do I get a vhs video to show on my tv?

Not only do you have to hook up the wires correctly, once you have them attached, you must then select the proper input source to view the video. Since TVs have multiple input sources, the remote control allows the user to select which connected input to view.

I hooked up equalizer to it through tape hook up but will not work

Even if you DO get the EQ connected correctly (hint: out go to ins) it will only work for analog 2-channel sources if engaged. AND any digital sources will be disabled.

When I turn on the tv the picture isn't showing why is that ?

You have limited information on your post...so,
Just guessing, if your trying to just plug your tv into a wall outlet
and expect to get a picture....you probably won't.

If your running through a cable box or direct tv for instance.
Make sure that all of input and output connections are connected
properly. Also, sometimes if your using a hdmi it does not work
correctly, try the component video connections.

If your running it through a stereo receiver, you may have to select
something on that to get it to work.

I run mine through my stereo reveiver...I have to turn it on, select the source,
dvd, tv etc. then on the tv i have to run through the input selections
to have it display.
It will run my xbox, ps3, wii, dvd's etc. but, selection is the key.

You can try to hook up one of your gaming consoles directly and see
if you get a picture. Or you can try to hook up your laptop and do the
same. Also, maybe your dvd player.

Kind of unusual that this would not work right out of the box.
You should see the on light on the tv when you turn it on etc.

Maybe the above will help...hope so....

Good luck.

REMOTE OPERATES PLAYER BUT NO PICTURE....DO I HAVE IT HOOKED UP RIGHT ???

Hello,

DVD players generally have 4 possible ways to connect them to a TV set.

1. Composite Base-band Video or RCA's (Yellow, Red, White)
2. S-Video or Super Video (S-Video, Red, White)
3. Component Video or YPbPr (Red, Green, Blue, Red, White)
4. HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

If you are sure that the connections are correct at both ends make sure that the TV set is on the proper input for the DVD player's signal by pressing the input button, source button, or the proper input button as listed (some remotes have a separate button for each input) on the TV remote.

I have an LG flatron l1710s monitor . when you turn it on it flashes the message that there is no video signal then the screen goes black. and nothing is showing. the monitor stays on as far as the power...

You need to 1. hook up and 2. select a video source. It can be from your antenna, cable, tuner, VCR, DVR, DVD, etc.

If you have any of these connected properly, 2. select the correct input to get any video to work.

See your operator's manual for set up instructions or ask me for more information about the hook up.

Hope this helps. :)

Progressive scan

Approach 1: Try unplugging the DVD player from the wall for an hour, then plug it back in. It may or may not reset to the factory default settings, which might put it back to "interlaced" output.

Approach 2: When a DVD player is switched to progressive scan, it uses outputs different from the coax cable "TV out" and the COMPOSITE outputs (often yellow, white and red RCA jacks. If you have the proper cables, you can connect them to both the DVD player and the TV, then cycle through the AKAI TV's "source" settings to switch the TV to the new cable input location.

For example, if the DVD player has "component" outputs (marked Y, Pb, and Pr) hook up RCA plug cables between those jacks and the AKAI TV's Y, Pb, and Pr jacks. Connect the Y to Y, the Pb to Pb, and the Pr to Pr, of course. The LCT3285TA has two sets of these jacks. Either will do, but note if you use YPbPr1 or YPbPr2. Once this is done, push the source button on the side of the TV (or on the TV's original remote) until it shows YPbPr1 or (...2 if that's what you connected). If the DVD player is on, you should now see the DVD menu or the picture from the DVD. Now you can use the DVD remote to switch back from progressive to interlaced video. The picture may go blank at this step.

Now push the TV's source button again until you see "3" or whatever channel you had been using in the upper left of the TV screen. You should see the DVD output picture (menu) again. Back to normal.

If your DVD player doesn't have YPbPr connections, it may have a HDMI or DVI jack.
The AKAI TV also has a HDMI input, you *could* get and HDMI cable (or DVI to HDMI cable if the DVD player doesn't have HDMI), hook it up, then cycle through the TV's source inputs until you see the HDMI in the upper left... in the manner I've just described.

Final Note: The progressive scan output of your DVD will actually give you a much better picture on your AKAI TV than its interlaced output. To take advantage of that, you'll have to hook up YPbPr or HDMI cables between player and TV and switch sources when you want to watch DVDs instead of TV programs. You may need additional cables to send the stereo audio output from the player to the TV for the progressive source hookup.

Hooking projector

You will probably need a standard VGA cable. The ends look like the connection for a monitor. Take a look if you don't know what I'm talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

There should be a port on your laptop and one on the projector. After it's hooked up you might have to toggle between the projection settings or select the correct source on the projector. Normally, there is a source or input button on the projector. If the picture isn't showing up on the projector but is on the laptop or vice versa, you'll need to toggle between settings. On my dell, it is fn (function) and the F8 key but sometimes it's the F7 key or some other F? key, just look for the LCD/CRT on the function button or the picture of a monitor looking thing. This is only if you don't see the image from the projector. Hope this helps you out!
