You can't connect to the Internet without either being physically plugged in to a router, or having access to a wireless connection. That wireless connection has to be authorized. In other words, if you're trying to connect using your neighbor's wireless, and they have a password programmed into it (which any smart person would do), then you're going to have to get them to give you that password in order to use the connection.

Do you have your own Internet provider already?

Its the password for your network. If your trying to use someone elses network you need to ask them. If it yours then you should know your security password for your network.

Acer doesn't connect to protected wireless internet

It looks like you've keyed it in once, but you keyed it in wrong, so the system thinks the security key is there.

Which Operating System?

You can try connecting to another secured network and see if it asks for a security code, then try going back to your network.

Try getting to the security code by going to the wireless network connection and highlighting your network then click properties.

How do i put a password on my internet

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to make your connection secure by using a password you need to access the router settings page and change the security type. Follow the instruction below on how to make the connection secure.

- You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x).

- Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY or the Ipaddress of the router on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. For Belkin Router it usually ask for a Password. If it ask you for a username and password just leave it blank

- Click on Encryption, You can select either WEP, WPA or WPA2 to make it secure. Then personalize a password. Then confirm the changes try you wireless machine to connect.

Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the personalize network key. Network key serves as a password on the network so that no one can access the internet unless they knw the password.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Acer aspire one d255 hi,ihave new aspire bun not connected in network

Hi Friend,

While connecting to your network if it asks for a network key and if you are not aware of that, please follow the steps:

Type 192.168.1.1 in the web browser and hit enter. If you have not changed the router password then kindly enter admin as the password and leave the username blank and hit enter.

In the router setup page click Wireless and click Wireless Security. Whatever the security mode is selected you will get the shared key over there which you can use while connecting your laptop.

Chiranjeet

>Once inside the Dlink Page
>Go to setup and on the left side click wireless setting.
>If given the option to click on manaul wireless connection setup click on it.
>Once you have the wireles window
>try to change the network name and scroll down
>Under security choose WPA security (enhanced)
>Scroll down and under the Passphrase type in your new network passwork or security key and confirmed it.
>Click on Save Settings
>If it asked your to reboot then reboot if not its ok

>Using your laptop click start and go to "connect to" and click on your wireless network and connect to it and along the way it will prompt you to enter your network key or password. This would be the same as your passphrase or pre-share key type in your network key.

Acer with Windows Vista does not connect to Internet

You're laptop needs to have a profile for the router. Go to Network and Sharing Center, Manage Wireless Networks. Please remove all the listed networks there. Now click on Add, then Add a Network in Range of this Computer. Select the wireless name of your router and connect. If it asks for a network key, please type your wireless security key then connect. That should do it.
