Do you mean they're actually accessing your router's setup, or just piggybacking on your wireless?

1) Make sure you have set a secure password for accessing the router setup. The default for this unit is "Admin" (case sensitive). You must change that to a strong password, one that does not use catchphrases or birthdates, etc. but rather hard to guess characters. It should be at least 8 characters. Last, but not least...don't give out that password to anyone. You can also change the user name to something other than "Admin" (again, the dafault).

2) Use WPA-PSK for the best security for wireless access that allows for passwords. Use a different strong password than for accessing the router setup. You can use WEP security as well, but it is not as secure. Again, don't give the password to anyone you don't trust.

3) The highest level of wireless security is MAC address. In this mode, only specific machines listed by MAC address in your router's database can get access. More trouble, but very secure.

Hope this is helpful.

How do you know they are hacking you? What are the indications? If you have employed MAC address filtering, and have done the things I detailed earlier regarding overall router security, and have not given their machines access via the MAC address database, then the situation is theoretically not possible. This intrigues me.

i know they hacked it before and they may have gotten a mac address then, i reset the router and then setup the mac address filtering, so they may have changed there mac address, i also talked to my brother after i posted that. i have to change everyones mac address and have 128kb encyption and have !@#$!% in the password to get on, most hackers cant get symobls he said, and they are most likly using linux to hack he said to me to. i know they hacked it by the next day cause day one internet was zoom zoom zoom, then next 2 days was dialup speed. and other people who have same service as me were still zoom zoom zoom.

In Control Panel, go to network, find the router icon, right mouse click on it and open device webpage
In security settings, go to wireless and set wireless security using a WEP pr WPA key chosen by you that you will remember ( I suggest 128bit encryption), save and that should be it. Make sure you record the passkey as tou will need to install it on all your wireless decvices

Some people are hacking my router through my local area network i want to stop it

If you have your wireless network unsecured then yeah people can just hop on and borrow your internet, login to your computers and cause problems. Follow the user guide http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT150N Start on Page 11, also change the default login for the router.
Configure WPA2 - PSK2 Personal wireless security with a password at least 10 in length and containing Upper and lower case letters numbers and special characters such as ! @ # $ % WPA2, not WPA is extremely difficult to hack into. Not impossible but very difficult. You could do MAC filtering but it's kind of useless since mac's can be spoofed very easily. So do the WPA2 and you should be fine.

Someone is sending my yahoo email addresses of my friends emails like they are being sent by me. How can I stop this?

The happens to a lot of people. Your email has been hacked. The only solution is to save your address book, close the hacked email account, open a new one and let everyone in your address book that you have been hacked and to ignore further emails from the old address.
Sorry for the bad news.

Hacked

If you are referring to your router's password being hacked and changed I suggest resetting your router to factory setting (normally accomplished by a recessed button on the side or back) and creating a more secure password. Try using at least one capital letter and one number.

My origional user acount stopped working and i can' t regain access to it because it said that someone was hacking into my account and was tring to do me harm. how can i get back on my 1st user account...

Disconnect your computer from your router.
Restart it.
You should now be able to "logon".
Then, reconnect your Ethernet cable to your router,
and update your anti-virus software, and do a full scan of your computer.

There should a reset button on the router, usually on the back. Press and hold for about 5 - 10 seconds and this will reset the router to factory default.

Yes, locking your router is a very good idea. This will keep anyone from the outside to be able to use your Internet connection and possibly hack into your system.
