This is a very general question, for which I will give very general responses.

There are two (again general) reasons why these problems come up. The most common is that the feed rollers have become worn and/or impacted with paper dust, and will not pick up the paper correctly. If your printer has a "clean feed rollers" utility (some do) then use it. If not, and if you can reach the rollers, you can try using a slightly moistened piece of t-shirt material (DO NOT USE PAPER TOWEL or anything else that can leave lint) to lightly swab the rollers to remove the paper dust, etc. Be very careful. It's easy to break plastic parts.

Another reason may be the paper itself. If you live in a humid climate (I live in the tropics...this is an issue here) then the paper can absorb moisture as it sits, which will cause it to stick together in the feed tray. If this is an issue, keep your paper in plastic bags to keep the moisture out until you're actually ready to print, and don't leave paper in the feed tray for extended periods.

Another reason can be static cling. Always flex and fan the paper stack, then re-square it, as you place it into the tray. This separates the sheets and causes the "cut edges" (which can stick together from the packaging process) to let go of each other.

Hope that's helpful.

Hello can you assist I can not figure out why the CX8310 Epson printer won't allow me to feed paper into it.

  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right edge, behind the tabs, then slide the left edge guide against the paper. Make sure the paper is not in front of the feeder guard.
  • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.
  • Don't load too many sheets at once (up to 20 sheets of photo paper, 80 sheets of Premium Bright White paper, or 100 sheets of plain paper).

When you reinstall the blue plastic piece underneath, the white plastic sheet that closes over the glass must hang over the blue plastic piece, not tuck under it.

    Paper is jamed

I have a HP697c and sometimes it grabs more than one sheet and gets jammed. I take hold of the trailing edge and pull hard and slowly till it comes back out. Then I remove and straighten the feed pile and try again.

    HP paper jam

That is usually caused by the paper feed rollers being cover with paper dust. Take a clean cotton pad and alcohol and clean the rollers :turninig each roller as you clean it. if it has a rear dor, open it to get better access to the rollers.
