Question about Nintendo Wii Console
must sync the remote. To do this first take off Battery cover of
remote.(leave batteries in) Then press the tiny red button on the front
of the wii console next to the sd card slot for 2 seconds. Look at the
back of the remote. In the battery compartment there is a tiny red
button that looks like the one one the wii. Press it and they should
sync. Now your remote should work.

Tips for a great answer:
If no lights come on the wiimote - you either need new batteries or you may have damaged the wiimote by dropping liquid on it or somethiing similar...sometimes cleaning the wiimote PC board with alcohol swaps may fix that, but it is not a task for a novice (you sound like a novice, so I advise against it).. Opening the wiimote and putting it back together again is not easy for a novice to get right without proper instruction.. My advice - search for videos of how to achieve this.
If none of the above work - you probably only have 2 options left..
1. send it for repair (costs almost the same as the price of a new wiimote)
2. buy a new wiimote
