Question about Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

When I step on the head so that vaccum enguages it stops sucking. You no longer hear air being sucked through the handle as well, the head does not **** down to the floor. When you lock the handle in the upright position again you hear the sucking through the handle. You can use the attachments and it sucks fine.

Near the bottom of the vacume where the hose bends down to the floor sweeper, check to make sure there is no blockage. this is the most common problem with vacume suction. you can use a wire coat hanger to help loosen the dirt and debris from the line and it is sometimes easier to clean properly if you remove the bottom plate ( like you would if you were changing the belt ). also while you are getting dirty and having fun, this is a good time to clean the air filter, ( tap it out good or/and use a brush or air compressor to clear and clean ).

Has suction when handle is in up position. Not suction when bring the handle down.

Is this a Dyson?

when the handle is up, suction is diverted to the handle for the tools and you can hear it sucking at the top of the handle. When you lower it, the suction goes to the floor head. If you have no suction at the head when you do carpet or hard floor, turn it over, turn the three screws a quarter turn using a 25 cent quarter and remove the bottom plate. Clear any obstruction.

The air that suck on the top of the handle is not doing it. It sounds like its comeing out under the vacume. What could be wrong.

If it's like my DC-07, you need to have the back of the vacuum fully upright, or it will not switch to sucking air through the handle. Give that a try (I found this to be one of many, er, under-documented features for the unit)

Stick vacuum

It sounds like your head is blocked. Remove the head from the vacuum. get a metal coat hanger, straighten it out and bend a small hook on one end. Insert the hook into the head from the vacuum end until it stops, revolve it 1 or 2 times and pull it back out. If there is debris on the end, keep doing it until no more debris. Shake the head upside down to remove more debris. If you can access the bottom of the pickup tube, blow air into it with a compressor until it blows clear. try the head again ( you may need to disassemble the head to get that blockage out - likely it is hair causing the blockage).
Hope this helps!!

I removed the handle of my Dyson DC24 to vaccum in high areas and now when i try to put the back piece back, it doesn't click. So when try to vaccum on the floor the handle just comes off.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC24. The wand handle should reattach easily to the machine, locking into place with an audible 'click'. If it doesn't seem to be doing this, you may want to check you have the handle facing the correct way round, with the red release catch at the front. You may also want to check the wand and hose for any blockages - for guidance on doing this, please follow the steps shown in our Support guide:

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

then check fro a blockage in the elbow section near the head

Vaccum has no suction

Here is what we did to fix the problem of our vacuum having no suction.
We unscrewed the three screws on the back and took the hose off of the vacuum.  Then we took the hose outside and put the water hose through the vacuum hose and turned on the water.  After about 30 second the water pushed through a dust bunny the size of a fist and a marker.  Basically, the vacuum did not have suction because the hose was clogged with dust, etc.  After reassembling the vacuum, it worked just fine.

Door stopper stuck in vaccum

I would first check down by the brush roll, take off the plate so you can get to the inlet to see if it stuck there, could be in the hose or the bag tube. Could be that it damaged the motor fan, you have to remove the motor to check it. If You had listed the model number, it would have been alot of help.
