First, I would try booting to Safe Mode and see if that gets you to Windows. If it does, then it's a driver issue that can be relatively easily fixed by "Uninstalling" the keyboard in the Control Panel/Device Manager, then rebooting and letting the system reinstall the driver.

If that doesn't do it, then it sounds like the (assuming you're using a PS2 keyboard) PS2 keyboard plug port may be compromised (ie., damaged). Try using a USB keyboard instead and see if that solves your issue (as trying to repair a PS2 keyboard port is not practical).

Hope that's helpful.

LG Keybo2 Will not stay turned off, have removed battery to try and reset but when I put battery in, just reboots, hold down the OFF button, turns off but then immediatly reboots and turns back on

F keys don't work on reboot. Work on Power on boot.

When powering on the F2 key will get me to Bios Setup, F8 key will get me to Safe Mode, and F12 key will let me change Boot Device. Everything is normal when up on XP operating system. If I reboot, None of the mentioned function keys work. Instead I get a message of a "Keyboard Failure", but system will come up OK. But, on the reboot, I want to use one of those function keys.

Plug & Play Configuration Error

restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell you if and what file has been corrupted or missing then you will know if its a hardware issue
hope this helps

Turn your computer off.
Temporarily replace your keyboard/mouse with "generic" units.
Turn your computer on.
Check that the F-keys work.
Restart.
Now, do the F-keys work correctly?
Or, do you still get "keyboard failure"?

Boot problems, have to hit F1 to boot to windows

Can you get it to go into windows at all?

Did you actually change the CPU?

When it says to hit F1, keep hitting it repeatedly, you will kow it acepted it when you hear a little beep from the P.C. Case

then it should go into bios. if not, then it may not be recongnizing the keyboard.

typically this issue occures because the internal clock is off do to apower shortage or the Bios battery has dies. Its a little watch battery on the system board. If you can get into windows, check the date and time, set it and it should sync the bios clock.

Let me know how it goes.
