I just bought a broken PS3 offline, well I paid for it, someone else wasn't paying attention to the broken sign on it. It says it's broken and that it powers on and immediately shuts off. How much do you pay for broken PS3? and can this be fixed easily or am I better off selling it. Let me know please firstname.lastname@example.org
This seems to be case that the ps3 has overheated before the owner sold it to you. Does your ps3 turn on and then dose it beep 3 times and the green light turn yellow and keeps on blinking. Or does the fan rev all the way up on the ps3. And does it turn back on when you want to turn it on or do you need to turn it off from the main power switch to turn it back on?

Hello This is a sign that the ps3 has become a heat issue.First power down the ps3.Then get a can of compressed air, sold at staples or any pc repair shop. Blow out all dust and dirt from ps3.Pay close attention to cooling fans.It may be a good idea to remove cover and clean out internal fans and motherboard. Once done wipe ps3 clean and reinstall it in a well vented area. Try ps3 again. If you still have no luck then the graphics chip may be fried. But check all your cables first.
That means all your activations have been used up and you'll have to wait an extra week before you can download again.
However, pay attention: have you registered this account on multiple ps3 consoles?
If the account has been deactivated on the other PS3 systems properly and you still get the error, then it wasn't properly registered through Sony's servers and you'll have to contact Sony directly to let them know your account wasn't deactivated properly on other ps3 consoles.
Here's the telephone number: 1-800-345-SONY (7669)
Hope this helps!
this is what's known as the yellow light of death. check with sony to see if your unit is still under warranty at this site: https://service1.us.playstation.com/rma.htm?_flowExecutionKey=_c42AAD4C5-D9D7-3A33-625E-9DA8C64771EB_k52930EA4-D8DC-F2F8-7A3D-01F2E5C1A8BA
if the unit is no longer under warranty, we'd be glad to fix this for you. all of our repairs come with a 90 day warranty that covers the whole console not just what we fix. we also offer extended warranties for up to 4 years at an additional cost.

Mine did the same thing yesterday. I called PS3 tech support and they said to fill out a service order request, they will send a prepaid box. When I get the pre-paid box send it back and since it is out of warranty, it will cost me $150.00. Will take from the time I fill out the request online to getting my fixed PS3....about 4 weeks. Mine did not overheat, in the middle of a movie...shut down. Nextflix DVD is stuck and they said that they will return the DVD in another mailing. Can not believe that as advanced the PS3 is, there is not an emergancy DVD release like on PC's. Good luck and hope this helps!!
