You do not have to use the cd.
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

IP address is 192.168.1.1
NOTE:
The default password of your router is "admin" without any username. It is recommended to change the default password for security purposes. If you forgot your password, press and hold the Reset button at the back your router. To learn how to reset the Password of your router, click here.

Changing the Router's Password
Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. To learn how, click here.
Step 2:
Click the Administration tab.
Step 3:
Enter the new password in the Password field and in the Re-enter to confirm field.
Then click "save settings" button

If you are setting security key/password:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Setting up your Router's wireless security is the easiest way to prevent other people from using your wireless internet connection. Your Linksys router supports three (3) of the most commonly-used wireless security types WEP, WPA and WPA2 Personal. WEP WPA WPA2 Personal To setup Wireless Security on your Linksys Router follow the steps below: Step 1: Access the Router?s web-based setup page. 192.168.1.1 Step 2: On the Router?s web-based setup page, click the Wireless tab then click the Wireless Security sub-tab. Click the drop-down arrow for Security Mode and select WEP, WPA etc.. Enter a unique word in the Passphrase field, then click Generate. The result will be a string of letters and numbers displayed in the space provided for key1. NOTE: Take note of what is in Key 1. This key will serve as the wireless security password. Keep this key confidential. Ehen click "save settings"

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Joe

The defaults are a blank user name, and the password is "admin." The IP address is 192.168.1.1 which should give you the logon screen.

Resetting is the only real option for you, but setting up using the web interface is not that difficult, especially if you have done it before.

Hope that's helpful.

Well it finaly booted up and i tryed the defalt password 1234 and still cant get in said wrong password ,but all the user accounts are now gone,so how do i reset admin password,

I would download software from a trusted site to release the password. It is quite expensive or take it to a laptop repairer who should have a copy of the required software and if you can prove ownership, get them to set a new password for you.You will lose your links that you made in your accounts but should be straightforward to enter new ones as you go along.

When we should consider recover lost or forgotten Windows password with third-party software? Which one do you know helpful?

When you don't have another available administrator account, password reset disk, when you couldn't make use of command prompt, WinPE, Chntpw etc, when you don't want to reset forgotten Windows password with installation disc, you could consider recover lost or forgotten Windows password with third-party software.
Windows password reset, Ophcrack, Windows Password Genius, and other free or charged software is so much. How to choose one from it? You need to consider its applicable Windows operational system, recovered password length, what devices it needs, advantages or disadvantages etc. You should know how to compare them and make a right choice. And then lost or forgotten Windows password can be recovered successfully.

Below are listed 4 of them. These Windows password reset methods will work in all versions of Windows like Windows 7, Vista and XP.

Option 1: Windows Password Hint

Whenever you create or change Windows password, there will be an opportunity to type a password hint to help you remember the password. When you enter a wrong password in the Windows logon screen, the password hint will be displayed to remind you of how you made up your password (if you have created one). This is the easiest method to recover a lost password in Windows as far as I know. To in case that others will take advantage of the password hint, please note it should be vague enough so that nobody else can guess your password, but clear enough that it will remind you of your password.

Option 2: Windows Password Reset Disk

This is an easy and effective method but you must have created a Windows password reset disk first, before you lost Windows password. But please note that the password reset disk will only work for the account it was created for and cannot be used to reset the password of another account.

To create a password reset disk, you firstly need to log on Windows and enter User Accounts by clicking Start button, Control Panel, User and Family Safety, and User Accounts. Of course, you can also create a system repair disc by yourself.

1. Type system repair disc into the search box in the Start menu and press Enter.

2. Top Four Efficient Windows 7 Password Recovery Methods

Have you ever lost your Windows password? If you have, you must know the feeling. That means you could not use your computer and your work cannot move on. So, are there some ways to retrieve your lost Windows password? Yes, here we will show you several methods for Windows 7 password recovery, and then you do not have to ask for help everywhere.

On this article we will share with you four efficient methods to recover windows 7 password, which are arrayed from easy to difficult.

Method 1: Use an available administrator account

Need: An available administrator account

If you have an available administrator account on your system, you can get your password back easily. Logon Win 7 system with the admin account, and then you can come to the Control Panel and change or delete other accounts' passwords. Just three steps:

Step 1: Click Start -> Control Panel -> Add or remove user accounts

Step 2: Choose the locked administrator account

Step 3: Click Change the password or Remove the password. And then you can change or remove the lost or forgotten password

Method 2: Use Windows password reset disk

Need: a Windows password reset disk (USB key)

Windows 7 allows us to create a Windows password reset disk (USB key) in case that we lost the Win 7 logon password. When we lose the password of Win 7, we can reset a new one with the created disk. The weak point is that you can only create the disk before losing your Windows 7 password. If you do not create that, it could not help. You could follow these five easy steps:

Step 1: When you enter a wrong password on the logon screen, a hint will appear: The user name or password is incorrect. Click OK and you are back to the logon screen. Insert the created Windows password reset disk (USB key) to your Win 7 PC and click Reset password...

Step 2: Click Next

Step 3: Choose your disk and click Next

Step 4: Type a new password and click Next

Step 5: Click Finish and your lost password should be reset

Method 3: Use third party Windows 7 password recovery software

Need:
1. A blank CD/DVD or an USB flash drive
2. A computer that has a CD/DVD writer
3. Windows 7 password recovery software

There is plenty of third party software for password recovery on Windows 7 online. Most of them are designed to create a Windows password recovery disk. With the disk you can recover your lost Windows 7 password. We highly recommend Windows Login Recovery and use it as an example. What you need to do is just three steps:

Step 1: Download Windows Login Recovery

Step 2: Burn a Windows password recovery disk with the software

Step 3: Recover the Windows 7 password with the disk

Method 4: Use Windows 7 installation disc

Need: Windows 7 installation disc

Installation disc of Windows 7 can not only install the system for you, but also restore the system. If you have created a system backup image before you created the Windows 7 password, the installation disc could help you to restore your system to the early status (the status that has no a logon password). Then you could access your computer without password. You can follow these five steps:

Step 1: Insert the installation disc to the locked Win 7 PC

Step 2: Restart your computer from the installation disc

If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check the information that came with your computer. You might need to change your computer's BIOS settings.

Step 3: Choose your language settings, and then click Next

Step 4: Click Repair your computer

Step 5: Select a recovery option, and then click Next

It is terrible when we lose the Windows password, but you do not need to worry about that from now on. Above four Windows 7 password recovery methods could help you to recover Windows 7 password and regain access the computer.

Your best bet is to insert the original discs that came with the computer, restart it, and hold down the C key as soon as it reboots. This will tell the computer to boot off of the installer disc you have inserted. Once that is done, step through the installer, keeping an eye out for an "options" button on the 2nd or 3rd screen. Click on that, and choose "Erase and Install" as your installation type.
This will erase the drive, and reinstall a fresh copy of that version of OS X with no users or passwords set. If you're feeling nice, you can probably also use those discs to reinstall all of the software that came with the computer. (iPhoto, etc.)
