Question about Whirlpool Dryers

1 Answer

I am a proud owner of a 2003 Whirlpool extra large (accu dry) 8 cycle electric dryer. The timer dial works and then shuts off if you set it over 50 minutes dry time.. How do we prevent the dial/dryer from turning off? Please let me know if you need anything in addition. Thank you for your assistance.

Your timer is defective, replace your timer as they are non-repairable.

Kenmore 68731 model 86873100 setting the drying to any of the drying methods, the dial does not move to automatically turn off the dryer.

You have a bad timer motor To verify you will get an ohm meter and remove the wires to the motor.

Check between the motor wires fer continuity. If you have continuity then the next test will verify if the gears are stripped on the motor. Apply power to the timer motor and see if it advances on its own. From looking at your model number I see nothing unusual about the timer.
to get to the[parts list I did 110.36873100. 110 is a the large prefix which ID's the dryer as being a whirlpool model. All kenmores ain't Whirlpool.

Shuts off during autodry cycle. stays on during timed cycle but clothes are wrinkled ans too hot at end of cycle.

if it works on auto but not on time you have a bad timer,it's not counting down,it's better to use auto anyway, when the clothes dry the dryer shuts off on it's own, this way your not using extra electricity,if your clothes dry in 30 minutes and it's on 60 minutes it will still run after the clothes are dry on auto it doesn't.if you open the door and look around the opening you'll see a tag with the model number, your missing a couple of letters on the model number.

My extra large capacity Whirlpool dryer does not dry in one cycle. Even if I only put a small load it takes at least 3 cycles to dry

There maybe an air flow issue. With the dryer on check the air flow from the exterior location of your home. There should be a good flow of warm/hot air coming out. If not the inside of the dryer may be full of lint.

I would suspect the timer is on it's way out the door. Do you have any areas the timer has dead spots? Check the exhaust for any plugging also.Is this only on a first time start up or is it after this dryer has been running? If after running it could be a high temp sensor, that by the time you are playing around with it, the temp has changed.

Extremely low drum heat but setting is on HIGH.

Electric (Kenmore - 60931) dryer takes forever (several cycles) lately to dry clothes set on high heat (actual heat in tub feels low though). There are no obstructions in the venting and the 240 volt connection is fine. The timer rotates the dial (timer motor working). Help!!!
