Tappan gas range, TGF334BCWB. I can NOT stop the broiler burner from lighting. I have unplugged the 110 power and I light top burner with a striker. However when stove is plugged in to the power the broiler burner lights and continues to burn. The oven knob is turned OFF. The only way to stop the broiler is to unplug the power.
I have the same problem with my whirlpool gas oven. The top burners work fine, but when we turn the oven on, the ON sign on the display stays on for about a few seconds and then goes away. The oven doesn't light up. Please help
Hi,
The problem most likely is with the igniter that lights the burner for your oven. I have just written a tip on that subject. You can view that here.
Gas range repair aid -such as, my oven won't work or heat up, which style of gas oven do I have, the glow coil gets red but my oven burner will not light.

Some gas ranges may take 10 or so minutes to light.
Other than that you may have a defective glow bar ignitor.
If it glows and does not light the reistance in the ignitior has failed.
Open the air vent to the burner, you may have a small delate when it goes on , make sure the burner is clean buy the ignition, or the ignitor it's goin bad, you will know that when the oven takes more then a minute to ignite.
