Question about Sanyo DP19648 19 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

DP19648 19 inch HD LCD was working fine up until 2 days ago. Now I get a green power light solid, no menu, no popus for channel, input, or volume. Don't have any sound but can't tell if im set to a channel to receive anything. I have run this with TV and PC connected 2 years without issue. I have resources and experience with electronics as well as family members as well. I would like to repair it myself if possible but don't know how or what to test to determine or even eliminate what isn't the problem. Replacing a board or even a component might be possible. I see 0 capacitors that are bulged, and there is nothing on the board that looked fried, cracked, or singed. My guess is that its the backlight or inverter? As I said I'm unaware of how to determine without spending a ton of money. I'm living day to day not even check to check so if I can repair this somehow it would be a great help to my sanity and wouldn't break me financially perhaps. Thank you in advance for any help. If there are downloadable schematics I have someone who can read them as well.

Not sure how much you will want to spend on 19" TV.
Power supply/backlight inverter boards (there are at least 2 versions)

As you can see from the pictures, there are fuses and label on the connector indicating the voltages, start with that first.

Boards: http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=DP19648+&stock=all

You only have two boards in this TV, so verify voltages first to narrow down the problem. I did not find any service manual for this TV. Even if you find the service manual, it may not give the diagram of the power supply/inverter board because it is made by another OEM so SANYO cannot give out the diagram.

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series

Did attatching HD Antenna fry my HDTV?

"the screen is nearly constantly with the exceptions of..." What does that mean?
If your antenna has a power supply it may have malfunctioned and fried your TV's tuner. Forty inch flat screens go for about $400 and up these days.
It could also be a coincidence, that the TV was expiring just when you hooked the antenna up.

GREEN SCREEN

Try initialize the TV. If works, great. If not, doesn't hurt. Worth to give a try.

I had whole redish/pinkish screen on my 50v500 starting a few days ago, then I read through each of the threads on this site for the samilar problems on my model. I found TVtechmaniac's solution (pasted below) solved my problem. Thank you TVtechmaniac!

Enter the I2C Service Menu, be sure the power is OFF.
1. On the front control panel, press and hold the INPUT button.
2. Then press the POWER button for two seconds.
3. You may keep the INPUT button depressed until you see the OSD with the Service Menu displayed.
4. If you don't see the service menu, please repeat Process making sure you wait until the Power blinking LED stops.
5. Execute the Memory Initialize operation after the adjustment values have been written on a sheet of paper. Highlight "MEMORY INTI", arrow to the right and hold the button to the right (approx 5 sec.) until a check mark appears in the box. This activates the Memory Initialization.
6. After the Memory initialize operation has finished (10~15 sec, the channel will revert to CH 3.) the pink image symptom should be fixed.
7. Write back the adjustment values from your notes to their respective adjustment parameters in the adjustment mode. (In other words, set the Data Values back to the the Data values written down before the Memory Initialization procedure). NOTE: Make sure the SELECT Button is pressed on remote after every change to the values. Failure to do so will result in the data values not being changed.
8. Exit I2C menu. Press exit repeatedly until you go back to the normal picture.
9. Turn the set off-on and Confirm the picture remains in a good condition.
BE SURE TO COPY DOWN DATA SETTINGS BEFORE INITIALIZING I2C SETTINGS

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

I have a Insignia 32 inch LCD TV Model number NS-LCD32. It recently started displaying no inputs. The backlight comes on but no inputs/ no sound. Green lines display if you press the menu,input, channel...

The first troubleshooting step would be to measure all the voltages from the power supply to the other circuits boards specially the 5 volts going to the main board. If you have the following: Insignia 6HA0112010 Power Supply, check FU502 for open conditions.
If all the voltages appear normal, then the main board should be replace since is hard to find individual components for a component level repair.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Philips LCD HDTV -- color problems

I am having the same issue. I believe the issue to be somewhere in the transition between HD channels and non HD channels. A work around is to switch the input to another input such as DVD and then switch back to your cable input (mine is the HDMI input). I'm probing the web looking for why this happens and if there IS a permanant fix.

Picture goes blank but audio on

If you are using component cables to connect your HD box to TV. Make sure your connections are tight. You should make the colors match up. Green, Red, Blue. Check on both TV and HD box. Make sure HD pox is powered on. Make sure to select TV input to Component 1 or whichever you are using. If this doesn't work you may need to call and have COX refresh the HD box. This can be done over the phone. This will make sure you are receiving and sending the proper signal level. Good luck

Sound and Volume trouble

I bought my Insignia 32" LCD in November 2007 - same problem. I figured out that if you press the "input" button on your remote select any of the other options "component 1, composite 1, etc.. that you're TV isn't on -then press "input" again and go back to the component that you're TV plays on - you'll have volume when you go back every time. I've gotten so used to doing it now that it's become habit. 9 times out of 10 I have to do it.

Green screen vizio lcd

My 37" vizio I bought in Dec 2007 did this (green screen at start-up on all inputs). At first it went away by itself after you left the unit on for 15 minutes, but then 2 days later the whole thing DIED. Luckily Costco has a 90 day return policy on TVs.

Vizio tech support suggested this (before it died that is):
Please try to reset all setting and then to see if the problem is solved. 1. Press the Menu on your Remote Control;
2. choose Set up on the OSD;
3. then choose Reset All settings;
4. Press the Exit on your Remote Control to remove the OSD.
