It's possible that you do not have the drive enabled for recording, or that your drivers are not up to date. Also ensure you are using the correct media for your drive.
To verify that the drive is enabled for recording:
click start -> My Computer
right click on your CD-RW drive and click properties.
in the properties window that appears there should be a "recording" tab, select that tab.
Ensure that "enable CD recording on this drive" is checked and a location is selected for the temporary files (normally stored on the C drive or whatever drive you have windows installed on).
If the above does not work, obtain the most recent drivers for your CD-RW drive from the manufacturer's website.
