First thing is try is video reset.

While PS3 is off (solid red led) Hold down the power button until you hear the SECOND BEEP, quickly release.

NES AV to TV Hookup

Note: This type of connection is not possible with the newer-style NES.

Installation Steps:

Locate the Audio/Video inputs on the back of the TV.
Place the yellow end of the AV cable into the Video "in" on the back of the TV. Connect the white or red end of the cable to Audio "in" ("left" or "mono"). Use a slight twisting motion when inserting each cable and ensure the cables are firmly pressed into the input.
On the other end of the AV cable, plug the yellow end into the "Video" (yellow) input. Plug the white or red end into the "Audio" (red) input, on the back of the NES.
After the system is connected to the TV:

Insert the Game Pak firmly into the Control Deck.
Plug the Controller(s) into the front of the system. Use the far left port for player one.
Plug the AC Adapter into the back of the system . Plug the other end into a wall outlet.
Press the Power button in on the front of the NES.
Turn on the TV and locate the input select. It is often called: TV/Video, input select, AUX (auxiliary), Line, Line In, Input, Source, Select, In, or EXT (external). Switch the input select to show the Nintendo game.
The game image should now be displayed on the screen. You are ready to play!

I was updating my system, it froze, I hit power, nothing happened,so I unplugged it. Now whenever I turn it on, it shows that it is on but nothing is on the screen. What do I do?

Have you tried the system restore menu yet. If you turn ps3 off then hold down power button until you hear 3 quick beeps it should then show a new menu on screen with about 5 or 6 options to select from. Try restore ps3 system and see what it does. Maybe it will help.

The play station turns on but the menu is not coming up. The wave line is on the screen of the TV

Same problem just happened to me. Playing a game and the game froze. Sat there in shock for about 10 to 15 seconds and the screen went black. Shut it off. Now every time I go to turn it back on again it starts up, I get the PS3 logo and then the blue wave starts. About 5 seconds after that the wave starts to lag and then nothing.... Stays on the lagging blue wave screen... THIS BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!

It came on to the menu screen and then froze

With the ps3 off, press and hold on power button for around 5 seconds. If the issue is with resolution this will reset it to factory default so you can set it correctly.

Yellow blinking light then turns off

My $500 80gig (old model, four ports and backwards compatibility) PlayStation 3 turns on, but doesn't show any audio and video. One day I was on the menu screen and all of a sudden the screen froze but the audio was still OK. After that I turned it off and then turn it back on, but i wasn't getting any video and now audio. I tried AV, component and HDMI cable, but still doesn't work. However, after an hour of keeping the system turned off, the game works back to normal condition, but soon it repeats the same problem of the screen freezing. WTF! I already know the holding-the-power button technique, but i still get nothing. HELP!

My PS3 turns on to green light but nothing comes on screen

After the system boots up, hold your finger down on the metal spot where you normally turn it on. it'll completely reset all settings & hopefully set to the proper video output.

No audio/no video, but no red lights

no red lights, no previous error msgs, and video output on the box has just died. playing halo yesterday and mid-game the colours went askew (like a green overlay) with horizontal banding, backing out to the dash solved nothing so after a reboot there was simply no video. troubleshooted the tv and cables and its definately the box.
